RAW carbon fibre barrel sleeve Adhesive

Stupid question, as I'm not familiar with RAW or their bottles (or even pcp for that matter!) but are these carbon fiber bottles or aluminum bottles with a carbon fiber covering to make it look neat?

In otherwords will removing the carbon fiber change the integrity of the bottle?

They're discussing a carbon fiber tube that stiffens the barrel. Not the tank. The carbon fiber wrapping an aluminum tank is the common method of high pressure air but they can't be separated without a full destruction of the bottle.

if any one has a good technique for removing all of it off the barrel I'd like to hear how its done . i have a rapid i removed the offset moderator and put a huggett on so i have a situation i need to fix, would like to hear from some one who knows a good way

I used my lathe to turn it off but I suppose it could be done with a dremel and small cutting disc, cut a slit down the length and peel it off.

Hi bb I have removed the carbon sleeve with a little bit of heat wiggled it straight off as I needed a little bit more magazine tension so I cut the sleeve down a tiny bit job done now just need to glue the sleeve back on the barrel.
pu gorilla glue I think will be a permanent fix not like the original factory adhesive.

thanks josh

What heat did you use, hot air or flame?

There are lots of archery glues that work really well bonding carbon shafts to aluminum and steel inserts. Almost all will break down when heat is applied. The only way to remove them is with heat. It's probably best not to use open flame, though if you did not care whether you damaged the carbon fiber you could use it. A heat gun is a more controlled application of heat and usually does not damage the carbon fiber.

If you want something removable, then you could use a low temp hot melt glue stick. Easton has a product that works well with carbon to metal bonding at temperatures that wont damage carbon. The only trouble with the hot melt is keeping it warm enough to flow while installing a part. With a looong barrel cover, it would probably have to done very quickly.
