Well I am stumped on what scope to buy for my raw. I am about half way through the wait for it to arrive. ant thoughts?

Kevin, I recently purchased an Athlon Ares BTR Gen2 2.5-15x50 APLR3 FFP with IR and 10yd minimum focus from CameraLand NY on sale for 549....great glass! Has the new turrets and upgraded glass and internals and has an easy to implement zero stop. Lifetime no ask warranty, no receipt needed.

All right, that one is on my list. And the price is friendly, Anymore suggestions would be helpful. I research things to death before i buy..

Yes, it seems you do. My advice, buy the rifle and a scope and get started on your own evaluations. You should remember, a lot of advice you get, although well-intentioned, is not relevant. Start buying and trying, you'll find your way.

Exactly!!!

Some guys like blond, some brunets and other read heads, you need to try for yourself to see what works best for you.

I am always finding something to pick up when I log in to this site, nice find on the scope. I just also ordered one.
Still waiting on my RAW build as well as my repair on my new rifle from them. Has anyone had the same experience as I getting updates or any info from RAW? I get no answers to emails or return calls since the sale of each rifle and subsequent return of defective.22.

Autodoc, I’m sure you’ll like the scope! It actually went up in price after I purchased mine but went back on sale recently. I have not sent my RAW back for repair but I’m sure if you call they will let you know what Is going on with the repair. A friend purchased one from AF but contacted Martin directly at his custom shop and he sent to him and Martin repaired it with great communication FYI.

Well its been 14 weeks since I ordered my RAW. I called to Air Force 2 weeks ago to check on the status and I spoke to Leah. I hope I spelled that right. She said that they had just received the barrels and I was not to far down on the list. She was pleasant and helpful. I called again today and was lucky enough to speak to Leah again, she told me that they had to completely shut down for the last 14 days due to Covid and that it will be another 2 to 4 weeks before I get my Rifle. My heart goes out to the folks who were affected by this and another few weeks isn't going to kill me. I  guess what I am trying to say, is good folks doing the best they can do with the hand they were dealt. Gods speed to all.

KevinB...so sorry for the delay! My heart goes out to you....the anticipation is the toughest part! At the very least, you spoke to a person, Leah. Hang in there, it will be worth it! Dairyboy waited 8 months for his AAA Evol! Talk about resiliency! And said it was worth the wait.

Sorry about the wait, but at least you are near the end. It will be so worth it once you get it!

My wait finally ended on Friday after what seemed like forever! I got one in .177cal. Martin very graciously built it to my specs for field target. It's a beast at 12lb so I made a palm shelf for it to help with the offhand shooting. Weahter came in before I could test it for accuracy. That will have to wait for next weekend.

Thanks! Honestly, I feel like I know so little about the internals of this rifle and that I have so much to learn. Here is a pic...

Oh YEAH! That’s GORGEOUS! Glad you ordered directly from Martin...conventional moderator! These RAW’s are as simple internally as they come. The front y-fill moves freely and this is where the regulator resides, attached also to the y-fill. That’s why when you remove the bottle you hear a pop from air being released from the plenum, the rifle itself will then be degassed! That is my fav stock laminate color! Keep us up to date on it! Enjoy shooting that bad boy!

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to some nice weather so I can shoot it.

Is there any trick to removing the hammer and hammer spring? Or is it just a matter of removing the rear plug and they will slide out?

Thanks!

I have an old school MKII unregulated I had Alan Z go through and accurize. It's closing on 10 years and it is still like a big Swiss watch. You can do a lot to RAW. I had the barrel cut and fully shrouded to overall length of 44.5 inches (barrel is actually about 19 inches). It is extremely quiet with this shroud.

Allen's Quickfill on bottle modification (Oversized Parker 60 fitting instead of smaller Foster type everyone else uses).

Trigger gone through and set at 3.5oz. Custom cocking bolt installed and adjusted. Dovetail cut in receiver and Allen’s custom rings with some bizarre lap type job he does on them that leaves them perfectly centered with scope zeroed with full scope travel left.

For best accuracy Allen tested a bunch of pellets and wound up with JSB 25.4gr at 870fps putting out 43ftlbs and it is indeed accurate. The ballistic coefficient is .0472. He mounted the ballistic knob on a 6-24×40 Elite and did the whole ballistic package marking yardages out to 120yds in 5 yard increments with the JSB 25.4gr at that velocity.
