"Marksman3006"My intuition was spot on......it was the crappy ass blackhawk rings. Leupold rings on now......and shes a shootin damn good right now. Will post some pics when done shooting.
I thought you were getting some Hawke rings with the gun??

That was the plan........but I forgot to ask for some while I was there. We talked about everything under the sun and I just forgot.

I actually feel bad for some of the guys on this forum who have had issues with their impacts. After handeling and shooting this RAW I cant help but wonder if they would be happier with something like this. Its not compact, and not light....but very powerful and very accurate. It is pushing the 25.39 grain Kings well over 900fps and retaining accuracy. I will do a full review with shot string and all after Ive had it a couple of weeks. Im loving the adjustable stock. I lowered the buttpad after those photos and it literally feels custom fit to me when I shoulder it. Ive always liked more weight in my rifles for offhand shooting. I used to compete alot.....and everyone knew weight was your friend. When hunting......I just throw it over my shoulder and none of my rifles weighing more has ever slowed me down. This RAW is a shooter.

I will say this tho before the review.....It shoots every JSB made pellet with extreme accuracy.....and choosing between the 3 comes down to what you want to do.....not accuracy.

Nice your smiling ear to ear, as you should be. I Do believe having the company owner involved in EVERY step of production, him doing the assembly and testing does insure an airgun superior to most. And everyone that leaves Minor Hill groups just the same and will not have issues. A few to many barrel & stock choices ( kidding) but a great rifle. I do believe I would like a .25 RAW when I grow up.

I do like that stock !

The only thing I like better on the wolverine is the magazine system. Those daystate mags are sick. The trigger on the raw is ridiculous.

Bullpups and full length rifles do different jobs for me. I have never been able to get on well with anything long for what I do. Accuracy is important with any gun but for small game hunting, I like rifles to be maneuverable, fast to aim and center balanced. I think the RAW guns look awesome but not as a substitute for a bullpup like the Impact. Those RAW guns seem more like benchrest / target rifles.

You are in a better position to judge than me though. Would you recommend the RAW as a woods walker to shoot fast moving small game or do you think it is more at home on the bench, taking your time to line up shot while adjusting a heavy high power scope?

For the most part, people that have working Impacts seem happy with them. If not, there are plenty of other bullpups to choose from these days.

Still, it would be interesting if RAW made a bullpup of a similar quality to their other guns. It could even be a bullpup kit for their current rifles and I think it would do well.

Well Im on cloud 9 right now after shooting the RAW today. I cannot believe how accurate this thing is. Ive shot it 750 times since Thursday and I believe the regulator is setting in nicely. The real shocker is this. I only have about 50 25.39 grain pellets left. So.....I grabbed the MK2 heavies. The MK2 heavies shoot bug holes at 50 yards. I mean way under half inch......repeatedly. I shot a 30 shot group at 50 yards that went under a half inch. My wolverine was accurate.....this thing is just plain retarded accurate. The heavies are slower but damn I dont care!!! Not with that kind of accuracy. Nobody is going to believe it tho....Hell.....I wouldnt. Next time Joewaynerhea and I shoot he can/will validate.

I am not like most when it comes to rifles for hunting. I have preferred heavier rifles my whole life. Im just more accurate with longer and heavier rifles offhand. I have tried a bullpup. Had a daystate pulsar. It was very light when shouldered and swung on a dime. Heavier translates into better accuracy for me even when out hunting. I dont two hand carry....I balance the rifle on my shoulder with one hand on the grip. Dont even feel the weight. I certainly dont recommend this tho for others and I know this is not the norm. In my experience the weight even helps steady me when shooting off the side of a tree.....which is how most of my shots are taken. This view coukd change tho as I get older. Im 36 now and strong with no back problems. To answer your question.....the RAW is more suited for bench shooting. Im just an oddball......I want a bench gun for my hunting rig. Nobody else does tho and I realize that. I truly meant no offense by suggesting someone might be happier with the RAW. Now that I look back on it.....it was kinda a douchbag thing for me to say. I know the impact owners will get their guns sorted out/updated with the new screw in very short order.....and all will be well. I love this forum because everyone is polite and helpful. My comment was neither and I feel like an ass. To make matters worse......Ive never even held an impact.

I wouldn't worry about it. It didn't seem douchbagy to me. I knew what you meant - i.e. for a similar financial investment you get that personal service with high quality fit and finish with each one tested before they leave the factory etc. Even the most hardened FX fans would have to admit that there is some contrast to respective customer experiences between the Impact and RAW guns right now.

Heavier guns are definitely easier to shoot from any type of rest (whether a tree or a bench). I find this to be the case with both bullpups and rifles. If I put my Cricket 25 in it's factory synthetic stock, it weighs not far off 9lb. It's easier to hold steady than my Mutant Shorty (which is almost 3lb lighter) but I really feel it after a few hours.

I tend to use my scope for spotting as well as aiming so after a few hours of looking up at trees my arms feel a little shaky which is not good for accuracy. I could hold the Shorty all day and feel no arm strain at all. The Mutant is every bit as accurate as the Cricket and while it is harder to hold steady, I am finding that it is more a case of retraining my hold.

The thing I never find to help my accuracy when using a scope is a longer rifle. A long gun can make some of my shots more awkward and make it hard to find a good shooting position but that is the only way it impacts my poi.

The thing with bullpups (and rifles) is that they aren't all created equal. There are definitely some poorly designed ones that make it harder to achieve a comfortable hold and good cheek weld etc. As with rifles, it sometimes requires trying a number of them to see which fit best.
