Rat blaster under 10 yards

Hey guys,

I found some poop in my patio storage and have seen something running around in there. I think it's either a squirrel or rat, but more likely a rat cause I see/hear them at night and I dont think squirrels are nocturnal? I thought it was squirrels at first cause I also found a stash of empty peanut shells...no idea from where...

Anyway, I want him gone. Do you guys have a preferred ratting rig for under 10 yards? On the cheaper end that will fit a 1/2 unf moderator? I have various scopes and dot sights I could attach too.

Thanks guys

Anything small pistol semiauto or super quick repeater.

Steyr LP50 or

Crosman CR357/vigilante.

Even old Crosman 600 semiauto and 38T.

S&W 586/686.

Old Daisy 2003.

Thank you! Ideally want something that's a pcp though and that I can keep ant fart queit with a 1/2 unf moderator. That steyr looks awesome! Too expensive though...

A Prod pistol/carbine is commonly used for that range and critter. Under $400, well-proven and -warrantied, huge market of aftermarket parts and service, and highly modifiable, if you're into that. A Veradium-tuned PP750 is also an inexpensive pistol option, and should be easy to maneuver indoors. There's lots of discussion of it lately on the pistol forum.

I always got a kick out of Throwback's videos on night-ratting with the Prod. There's a whole series of them; here's one:

Whenever indoors, you might want to choose a .177 so the chances of poking through a wall are reduced. And be sure to wear shooting glasses, as a ricochet from that close up could be especially likely and dangerous. So you'll have to decide where your main shooting is likely to be in order to make your choice.

Thanks Dingfielder! Awesome suggestions. I've heard a lot about the prod and think I'm gonna head down that rabbit hole for a bit lol. Also thanks for the video!

Why damage your house? Is it that old and delapitated?

This is what I would use way cheaper and effective.

Put an eye screw and tie a string to it.

Peanut butter works.

Odoyle is right that you really don't want to be shooting indoors. But I don't like poisoning either, because anything that eats the poisoned animal could get poisoned too. And the next thing that eats that ... We have dogs at home and all over the neighborhood, as well as hawks, so poison is out for me.

Tomcat has very good mouse and rat snap traps that look like sharks teeth. They're not expensive and ours aren't worn out after plenty of rats. That's what I would suggest if cleaning stuff up indoors. And always in a spot where it would be all but impossible for your pets to get into. We put them at the very top and back of our log shed, for instance, and in the attic. They're available most everywhere.

Outdoors, as long as you have a reliable backdrop, is where the freedom comes in.

Consider the SIG MPX (not mcx IMO) runs off 88/90 gram co2 but you getting 300 shots and I’ve left co2 in mine for at least a month more than once. But for that distance hole on top of hole consistently and comes with a nice red dot for under 200.Some guys go HPA with it,if you want to go that route.Get some RWS flat head 7/8 gr pellets or mines also like the Winchester round nose 9.8gr and your good to go.This is my inside the barn rig.Oh I only get mice in there though anyway no big rats😕

My son bought me a Daisy 880, I have pcp’s he said enjoy and I kinda laughed. Well 30 ft with a cheap scope 5 pumps deadly accurate. I enjoy So much I put a LDC on it from airgununiverse.net now it is so quiet all you hear is the pellet hitting the target. Totally enjoy this little 177 pump pellet rifle. Consider one for close accurate shooting. Enjoy !

That's got to be the coolest rat blaster!

Thanks for all the ideas guys. I'm going to do some digging. I also have a green dot laser I may try out...

Here is what I use for distances under 30 yards. Benjamin Prod , LDC and night vision

The key to shooting indoors is you hunt over a bait pile. Here is a mouse taken at 6 yards. I was shooting down my basement stairs.

That is a driveway sensor On the left and you can also see my pile of bird seed to the right of the dead mouse. I always zero my gun at the exact spot where the bait pile is.

if you are going to use a pellet gun indoors at least put a back stop board where you plan on shooting the rat, that's what I do when I use my Remote control M-rod in the Patio to kill rats at a designated POI.... using wireless security cameras.... saves the wall and neighbors walls from damage.

I would like to see this in action lol. Please?
