RAPTOR .30

Is this gun as good as it seems..? Is this a good .30 to get..?

About to pull the trigger and get ready for the long wait for my Raptor. Anyone have anything negative to say about this rifle..?

It seems to be the hottest .30 out now.

The most powerful or at least 1 of the most powerful .30 out now, at close to .380pb ballistics.

Large bottle giving very respectable shot count at high power.

Gun is light for what it is, 6lb compact or under 7lb long.

Does 100 yards with some of the best and could be the gun that overthrows FX in benchrest.

Shoots slugs and pellets very well.

Made in the USA...

Heard nothing but good things about its dealer/manufacturer support, thats only a phone call away.

IMO, its a handsome rifle...

What L.Leon said. There have been some really bold claims made about this gun. I dearly hope they are, not only true, but conservative. The early user reports out there may be glowing, but are remarkably short on quality data. So I too am waiting for someone to really put a raptor through it's paces. Finally, I'm also keeping an eye out for when the promised caliber change accessories become available. I've watched WAY too many "modular" products be released over the years only for the promised parts and conversions to show up a day late and a buck short if ever.

To be clear, this is nothing against JSAR personally, I just tend to be a little more of a "look before you leap" type especially when it comes to expensive toys.

I'm just a few days shy of ten weeks since I ordered a full size with the 500cc bottle, in .20. So, I'm hoping to have it shortly.

I can shoot to 62 yards here at my house and have many more places where 100 yards and more can be shot.

When I get it, I plan on seeing (and reporting) what's it's capable of.

My two intended powers for the gun are: just a hair under 20fpe for possible field target use (hoping it likes the JSB 13.73 at about 800fps here) and 30-35fpe (JSB 15.89 as fast as they'll go and still be accurate).

For context I've got a USFT and a Veteran so the trigger in the Raptor will be compared to those (two guns with very good triggers, in my opinion). I've also shot friend's Red Wolf's and Crowns and EVOLs and a demo LKS.

My hopes are that the Raptor will compare to the USFT, which is an exceptional rifle made in the old way, by one (or a couple of, skilled workers) with a very specific purpose: the pinnacle of accuracy.

I think the gun looks fantastic also … but will it shoot straight?

The thing that bothers me about the Raptor is that we all know that Travis has visited AGN's web site and has most likely read more than a few comments just like those above, and has done nothing to dispel the lingering anticipation that most of us have concerning the accuracy of the gun at longer ranges. It would seem to me that if Travis had a gun that would shoot, that he would use it to put up a video or two to address this situation.

Like most of you, I have been enthralled by guns that looked great, had great write ups and then wouldn't hit the proverbial back side of the barn door. I would love to order a Raptor, but until I see something that relieves my fears concerning accuracy, I will keep my powder dry and my money in the bank.

Travis, if you read this post, please address these concerns.

Shalom

Can't really fault Travis in this regard. He was asked by forum admin to stay out of discussions unless they're on the dealer section of the forum.

I supported what they are doing and ordered a rifle from them. I think it is one of the coolest new rifles on the market and made here in the USA which is pretty cool !! I suspect if you do not take a little leap in faith and place an order to have one built it will be years before they are sitting on a shelf waiting for a buyer to take it home. As for being accurate, they are using know accrate barrel suppliers and all early report have been very good. Power wise it looks like it will leave the European rifles sucking for air right out of the box with no modifications.

What he said👍

My .22 raptor has had a magazine issue that they are supposed to take care of but not an actual gun issue Mine is shooting just fine at 30 yards with crossman pellets.

For the 1150$ the raptor is a good value for the money especially if your getting a .30 regulated airgun made in USA,that being said I did have a day where I was almost pulling my hair out due to bad accuracy but then I thought time to clean the barrel.😀👍

I think there's not a whole lot of them out there either though yet. I'm really excited for my .22 Mini with the TJ barrel. But in .30 there using the TJ 1:26 twist which was designed for the JSB .30. Many people have used them on custom builds or other guns like EVOLs and WAR guns. My WARP when I was in a good shooting mood with the same barrel would put 5 at 50yds through a single size pellet hole and at 100yds put 4 in a dime and pulled the last shot but still under an inch. There great barrels so shouldn't be any worry on if there accurate or not. Plus they test them at 50yds for accuracy before even shipping them. They had a bad batch of barrels from LW that caused delays and had to get others so there making sure there accurate.

And probably a more efficient 90cc than the add on plenums for the Impact, as far as airflow going from plenum to valve.

Again power out of the box with no mods. 😊

I agree, that's awesome performance right out of the box and a reasonable price.

My setup is 75cc air tube and a 20cc external through a 9mm port... far more efficient than the normal small hole external. 132 fpe at 150 bar.

Where did this idea come from? I’m not an Impact fanboy, but I’ve seen nothing to back up that statement. Maybe you’re thinking of the AAA EVOL, which is showing great promise at 100 yards...?
