I ripped off this pic from the internet. 
The theory behind the thimble is..... You are able to index the barrel. This enables the barrel to be turned. Most barrels are not perfectly straight so they can be adjusted to get the poi wanted.

I figured something like this but wasn't sure. Thanks for the clarification! +1 to you

One of the drawbacks we all know about is the maximum size of the transfer port is dependent on the caliber. Thimbles overcome that issue, but at the expense of some others—placing the pellet beyond the port and into the lands being one of them. Nonetheless, they are an interesting innovation.

crutcherro yes the single shot makes alot of difference target shooting. passing a pellet through a thimble.. the pellet never get distorted.
but buy a raw with out a thimble and the pellet is easy to get distorted.
you cant compare putting a pellet single shot in a raw with thimble and a raw with out thimble.
if your after accuracy first and formost a thimble will allow you to shoot wit ha higer grade of accuracy.

both barrels are amazing and they both show a preference for different pellets at different ranges.

alan.... i have no complaints as this is the most accurate air rifle i have ever used or seen used.
a bad group with this gun is 5mm ctc at 30 yards
with baracuda 4.52 all the groups run 5 mm ctc over and over again. consistantly.

with jsb 13.4 expect 2mm ctc at 30 yards. a bad group with this pellet will run 4 mm ctc
and all the above with pellets right from the tin no sorting of any kind. just straight from the tin.

pellets that are most accurate at 25 meters arnt necessarly the most accurate at 50 or 100 yrds,
the best pellet at 25 meters is the least accurate at 100. go figure.
but the most accurate ones at 100 are pretty darm amazing

there is some pics of my 100 yards fireing lane. surrounded by trees. I can do up to 200 yards here if I want.right now all ive done is up to 125 yards. and even thou my raw is 177 its doing very well for that lil cal.

Great choice on the caliber, I think the .177 is making a come back and there’s something wonderful about tiny ballistics!!!

AA, I was suprised at how accurate the 8.44's are out of the poly barrel's at that speed. My TM 1000 shoots those pellets at a similar speed and dead accurate. Flat as well. I don't have to change my hold over for field target one bit from 10 - 55 yards. I haven't tried long distance with it yet. I think I'll get some 10 gr pellets and check it out. I've got some gongs set up at 135 yards. We'll see....

chas yes gongs at 125 for my raw that are 3 inches will be hit ever single time. so that's so prob at all.
​yrs should be the same thing. matter of fact I bet the one I have will do it 99% of the time at 150.
this is amazing for a 177 pellet.

​25 meter target. accuracy is insane with jsb 13.4 in poly barrel.. extreme bench rest ready right out of the box with this combo.
barracuda 4.52 is pretty stunning as weel at this range as well

I'm just getting started in pcp with a .177. What pellets/speed have produced the best results out of your gun up til now?

UGLYJOHN.. what kind of barrel do u wish to shoot yr pellets through and at what fps and cal and range. if u tell me that mabe I can help you
