DOUGER ive used all the top brands and own them but this one stands out .even on the very first day of using the raw I noticed this. I know I keep mentioning the thimble/ indexing but I see what it can do. cant live wth out it now for accuracy
MICHEAL .yes definitely cloud nice here. out of all air guns ive ever used i most happy with this one. such a pleasure to be in the field with a fine arm such as this. air gunning is such a great sport i wanted to share it all with you guys. loving air guns and air gun nation.. hope you all like the pics if you like to see more just let me know guys.
JLC ive done some shooting with it at 125 yards out doors. first 10 shot group was smaller than the palm of my hand. the very first one. and this is just a 177. and that is not even with its favorite pellet.
people using 8 and 9 pound guns don't realise how unstable they are for longer range accuracy. this gun is just shy of 14 pounds with scope and steel muzzle weight and etra heavy barrel. when this gun recoils.. it don't recoil at all. so steady and smooth. zero jump zero recoil. there is such a difference in steadiness from going to a 9 pound gun and then going to a 14 pound gun.. i even when with a steel bottle to gain a pound of weigh over the carbon bottle. heavy is better!
I really like the hunter green stock. I’m considering my next airgun and think I may get one similar to yours. I’m interested in a .177 that has an indexed barrel. I already have a HM1000x LRT .25 walnut stock with a standard LW barrel. I’ve gotten a few 1/2 MOA groups at 50 yards with her from an Atlas bipod and a rear squeeze bag. She is a great airgun and love her, but I still have an itch.
I assume you have a stardard LW barrel and not a Polygon barrel. Is that correct?
crutcherro.. i have both poly and lw barrels. martin shipped both out with this gun. there is not one thing i would change about the gun i ordered. it was all that i watned it to be. also as well both barrels are 20 inches rifled section so the barrel sleeves are even longer. the 20 inch barrels are are a good compromise between 24 and 17 inches...17 being what daystate offers and 24 being the longest length raw offers. 20 inch will get you a high shot count. good use of air. and 24 has in my opinion to much dwell time in the barrel. so 20 inch is what i picked and my barrels are a large diameter.
half inch groups with this gun at will will be a piece of cake. at 30 yards if you stick match heads up. this gun every single shot will connect with the match head with jsb 13,4 and poly barrel. my air gun out of the box is ebr ready for 25 meter competition.. you will be impressed. remember u can only get a single shot raw with indexing.
Thanks for the info...Yes, I realize that an indexed barrel is single shot. My opinion is that single shot doesn’t make much difference target shooting and no difference hunting. My itch is getting worse
Have you had enough time to evaluate your barrels?
I ripped off this pic from the internet. The theory behind the thimble is..... You are able to index the barrel. This enables the barrel to be turned. Most barrels are not perfectly straight so they can be adjusted to get the poi wanted.
