Rapid Air Weapons is now Rapid Air Worx

Times are a changing and have been for many years. Unless one conforms to a degree of these general population "sensitivities" that is the world we all live in today, many will find there cutting off there nose in spite a beautiful face if holding fast on an ideology of "Just Deal with It" Guns, Weapons etc as it has been for centuries.

You wish to maintain these freedoms ? Why salt the wounds of an ever increasing push back and negative perception by the ignorant. It is only a name change to help the longevity of the company and our beloved sport / hobby and dismiss or soften the perception our modern air guns being weapons.

I for one appreciate the name change. The word “weapon” never quite sat well (with me). I’m with Cameron on this one. Sure, airguns can be manipulated to fit the definition of a weapon. However, is that the purpose and intent in our sport/hobby? When I read and interpret the definition of weapon, the only tie to airguns I can make is to “inflict injury”. Hopefully everyone’s intent in our community when inflicting injury is during a hunt. Better yet, I hope the intent is to humanely dispatch game. However, I realize that some just want to kill, harm, and nothing more. To those people, I say call it a weapon. It takes a big man to kill an animal just for the thrill of it. I’m no hypocrite, I eat what I kill. I never once been thrilled during the act of sighting-in an animal, squeezing the trigger, and watching it die. Weapons are those things used in war, by thugs, and police. Again, it’s all about intent.

As for those who brush it off saying that it’s only a word, or we have become too sensitive, I say don’t stress. Things evolve all the time. If you don’t evolve with changing times.. well, you’ll be left behind. 

I gotta say to those who make stink about the name change, what is the issue? Does it matter? It’s still RAW after all. The “x” is a bit gimmicky, but it’s inline with the times. Some of us are the ones falling behind. I’m guilty of it too. No Facebook or texting for me, but that is my problem, not evolution’s issue. I am a healthy 200lbs 6’2” male, I don’t need the word “weapon” to make me feel more of a man. But then again, it’s all about intent, and I am pretending to know yours.

Now, what I was really hoping for with the news.. I hoped to open this post to see reports from RAW regarding some new retrofit internals being offered such as those some of our members have been recently working on.

Oh, yes, they once again mentioned the resurrection of some Theoben models. It's been a couple of years that they've been throwing that delicious teaser out. 

I understand that right here is not going to be the place where those details are revealed....but..... could we possibly get a hint as to WHEN we will be getting some (any) kind of details on this concept ? I really want this idea to succeed, so I can finally own one. *wink*

You and me both.

I suppose there is an argument for not calling an air rifle a weapon if it is far too expensive and heavy to take into the woods.

The name of the company would never stop me from buying one. I must admit I am impressed that an American company can produce such quality at a competitive price.
