Range Time With The .40cal Badger

She's pretty and can shoot too.

Short, fat and a little slow at 1100fps will get the jon done. An EPPUG 110gr bullet

At 100 yards

I had the Badger and the Texan .257 out. The RSO's are pretty curious about them. I offered to let them shot the Badge when I had it on the bench. One declined saying he is a lefty and can only shoot left handed. The other RSO jumped at the chance. I loaded a round up and said here you go, it's HOT and aim dead center one of the open targets I had up. He hit a few inches right from center. He says "Can I shoot it again?" I of course said SURE!! I walked him through opening the bolt, cocking, and loading the bullet. His next shot hit the red bullseye. He was pretty tickled and impressed with what a big bore PCP can do at 100 yards.

His target.

Thanks Loren for the reminder. I have a Richard’s stock for my Badger too. Been sitting in the corner. I forgot all about it. Think I will start inletting the barrel channel tomorrow. Been having fun shooting woodchucks with it this summer. That is some nice shooting. Are you teathered to a tank? I shoot 200 and 220 gn hp slugs I can keep the first 2 shots within a couple inches of each other at 100. The 3rd shot is very much lower. It’s nice being teather to a tank. All shots are very tight. But I do most of my shooting just like I would when deer hunting. 2 good and 1 follow up shot.

They are .402 sized and lubed from GT Bullets. I have tried .401 as cast and sized .401. But the .402s work the best for me. I have baught a lot of .401 slugs from Several suppliers and even cast a few of my own. I haven’t seen enough difference in accuracy to justify the price difference. But that’s just me. The price of 250 - 200 gn slugs from GT, even with shipping is pretty inexpensive.

Don't me to high jack your thread My Badger love's the 180gr HP by Mr. Hollowpoint here's a pic of the doe I shot at 69 yards and pic of it in the Boyd's stock.

Loren

It's a Boyd's stock for either a savage or marlin 22 bolt action I'll have to look it up to see, I used a piece of 1" pvc with 320 grit to open up the stock for the air tube and had to do some modifying of the trigger area for the stock bolt, I then used a piece of aluminum to cover the opening I can take some pictures of this area when I get home and post them if that will help.

Hey fellas here's what I started out a Boyd's Barracuda for a Browning T-Bolt 22 I was just on their site and they have the same stock now for the Benjamin discovery for $147 mine was $78 but here's some pictures of what I did, Wish I'd had more to tools to work with than a Dremel and a harbor freight plunge cutter but it's rock solid.
