Raccoon Invader Eradicated!

While your solution of fumigating and shooting would seem quite satisfying. In your scenario I might consider something else. Raccoons are nocturnal. They’re coming out of your house every night to go eat and do their things that they do. Below is a picture of an absolutely 100% effective raccoon trap. I bought mine at Fleet Farm for about eight dollars. you put some peanut butter inside, Way down by the trigger. They can’t resist. They put their hand down inside the tube and then grab a hold of the trigger and they pull it. They can’t help themselves. Trappers used to use a similar example where they would drill holes in a 4x6 board and drive nails in at Angles and put shiny objects in the holes. The raccoon would refuse to let go of the shiny object. This is even more effective once they put their hand in there and trip the trigger it’s not coming back out. Then you just shoot them in the morning. And they don’t die inside your house. It’s a done deal, and a dead coon

That trap looks fantastic! I'm still going to fumigate the house, so I can make sure they all have left so I can get my repairs done. I just ordered the traps off of Amazon, and they will be here Sunday!!!

Raccoons are bad news. I won't pick up the carcass without vinyl, rubber or nitrile gloves. There are - last I recollect , 2 diseases and one micro parasite the can be carried by the raccoon. The parasite is the worst. Not good especially in children and pets. Until the raccoon it so sick it walks like a drunk you never know which one is infected and which one isn't. I just assume they all are. A person in the neighborhood was feeding damp dog food in half a 55 gal barrel and letting them nest in her basement. They used the doggy door. The main floor was closed off by a door. The lady though it was cute to have kits in the basement. The family over the back fence discovered the raccoons were not only a nuisance but a source of disease and parasites dangerous to her children. It took a tv news channel to get the situation rectified. City animal control and Federal wild life wouldn't do a thing.

i've taken countless raccoons with a 15 FPE NP2. however, ALL but one of the shots were taken from a second story window and centered on the top of the head. the only one i took from ground level was a coon that wouldn't leave the area no matter how much noise i made. i shot that one as it walked in front of me "growling". hit it in the vitals and it only made it 10 feet before dropping. i wouldn't take that shot again, i only did it out of desperation.

clean the area of the crawlspace they defecated in. their scat will contain parasites they carried and the seeds in it will attract mice.

good luck and i hope you have a full and speedy recovery.

I want to offer my sincere thanks to all that recommended the DP Coon traps, as they work awesome!

This bastard was heavier than the last one, but this one is a male. I took a shot standing aiming for the head, but my broken back didn't allow me to be as steady as I should've been, so instead of in the forehead, it caught him in the eye. I did a follow up shot to the vitals, and it was over.
