Here's a tip for you when you hunt the jacks. Wear a whistle around your neck. When you spook a jack and he runs, blow the whistle. The majority of the time it will stop and try to find out where it's coming from. Be ready to take the shot

Jacks  like to run a ways and then stop to see if they are still in danger.  Cottontail will run like mad until the find a place to hide.

Jack's will run more when temperatures are cool.  Moon cycle, barometer, temperature and breeding cycles all affect Jack behaviour.  Sometimes they are hard to find, and sometimes the seem to swarm in packs of 10+ at a time.  When you get into them by the bunches, the action is a lot of fun.

Agree with Calberry n JimNM. Jacks lope around , I squeak or whistle gives me a 5sec window to crack off a shot. Bunnies run, till they find a hole or deep brush, a lot harder to stalk IMO . Fun fun fun to shoot though.
