I support all my guns on a tripod no it should not fail , it is only balancing gun , no force , ed did a Video of them running over gun and his friends jumping on the stock , so no it must be a defect , I did messege Brian at edgun west , to see what He says LOU

These were EDs Videos , they could not break one trying to , mine broke balancing on tripod ,I know ED builds strong stuff this one must of had a flaw when molded look here

IDK. Was the gun left suspended..IE the butt-stock not resting on anything..just hanging? You are putting a lot of pressure on the stock joint..not sure how large the connecting pieces in the stock are, but I would doubt they were designed to support a 12lb-15lb hanging weight. Even if it wasn't "hanging" at the time of failure, carrying or manipulating the gun with the weight of the tripod would put a lot of torque stress on the joint, too. Not criticizing..just an observation.

Nice groups BTW.

None of my Edguns have synthetic stocks so I can't comment on their strength but why would anyone want a synthetic stock for an Edgun? Not bashing just curious is all. YO!

Because the original stocks are thinner wood. The synthetic is ideal for outdoor hunting, where the rifle will get wet and/or get dinged up.

well gun only weighs 7 pounds and scope I had was only 24 ounces so under 9 pounds total ,it was just balancing with barrel to sky when I got back from target , the forum of stock was in tripod and the gun and back part of stock and scope were on ground ,

MTN Ghost , I was soo happy EDgun came out with Synthetic stock for same reason as I am a hunter , maybe this is a fluke , we see what Ed and Brain say , I really prefer the Synthetic stock my self , So I am hoping he says it is defective , You see , I never used a Tripod in my life , Until , I started having issues with my hands , I had a few surgeries and they still not good , so for me to shoot I need to use my tripod now , so it is either use tripod or dont shoot so I use tripod ,

Kral yes I love Teir 1 optics , This scope is my first attempt to try a SFP scope , I got to do a write up on it soon , but I got to say the glass on this Swarovski is better then my Smidth Bender and they are my favorite glass ,

I think that was awfully nice of Brian to warranty the stock. I am sure that the post on the forum may have helped influenced his decision to do so. I think he’s right/fair to only offer it once.

The only stock material I would trust to not fail on your method of set up is a cnc or forged aluminum chassis, and possibly a carbon stock. Come to think of it, you would benefit by removing a mm or two and laying up carbon fiber, or fiberglass in the tube channel.

Regardless if it’s an Edgun or Evanix, the tripod support is stressing a small and vulnerable area to cantilevered stressors. The material in that area of the forearm is very thin. Even if the stock had a void created in the manufacturing process, I would think it could happen over and over again.

Nice R5M btw,
