R5M Long (Huma) tunings?

So where have you guys landed on your tuning?

I have adjusted and tested targeting only accuracy to 150 yards. I have settled in at this current tune for the 34s at 915 fps from a 125 BAR reg Pressure setting. I was at 2 clicks from peak on the HST but am now 3 clicks from peak at the same reg Pressure after a couple days and a half tin of settling. I don’t know exactly where I am efficiency-wise, but it is 40+SPF. Maybe I’ll test on a complete fill later today... If I could figure out the EDMU I’d post some of the data from there. With the accuracy I am seeing right now I want to resist further adjustments for a while. I am quite happy with the results right now.

What about the rest of you guys?

Hi there, I'm just waiting for mine, it suppose to arrive on Monday, so as soon as I have it I'll post
Waiting over a weekend is always the worst...
 you're absolutely right ;( ajajajajaja

I’ve got an .25 R3 Long with the Huma. Sounds like your in the right spot.

When you go off the reg does the fps go up? If so, the reg pressure is set too high. Does the fps, remain about the same for a few shots and then heads south? If so, you’re good.

BTW, I have mine shooting 900 fps with the 34s. Our systems are pretty different between the R3 & R5 but I do have a .30 R5. Great platform!!

I should check. What I know for sure is when I see one strike low at range and check pressure I am off reg. I need to fill to just above reg Pressure and test to know for sure but I for sure know when I am below 122BAR. Seems like I see a low strike and I check to fine I am at 122 or lower.

Hi again, I finally got my R5M !!!!!!!!!
But I need your knowledge and experience to try to get the sweet spot on it, the Edgun representative here in Chile is going to install the Huna reg and my intentions are tunning it to shoot the JSB 34 grains.
As I looked above in the thread JWilson's last setup was reg pressure on 125 and 3 clicks away from peak on the HST right ?
How is everything right now any new discovery or pics with group sizes anyone ?

I'll wait for your coments and thoughts, thanks

Leave you some pics of my new beauty !!!

Alejandroo, cangrats man. Thats a nice setup. Personally, I wouldn’t dial the rifle in based off of anothers settings. Sure, it’s a base line guide to keep in mind and that does help.

I’d set your reg to 125 bar and begin shooting over the chrony. Start with low hammer spring tension (HST) producing 800 fps or so. Slowly dial in more HST while testing until you get to a definite peak in FPS. From there, your best efficiency and regulator performance will usually will be had at 15 fps less than peak fps. If the fps you end up with isn’t what your target was, then the reg needs to be adjusted.

Great advises from both of you I can thank you enough, I'll start the tune and let you know the results and final setup with scope and all that jazz!!!!!
Has any of you shot any slugs out of your Matador ?, if so, what are your results ? I think this R5M could be a good slug shooter, let me know
Thanks again for the help zx10wall and JWilson +1 accuracy

With the apparent shortage of 34 grainers, I decided to dial in a tune for the JSB 25.4s today. Between the chronograph and the EDMU, I feel pretty sure reg is at 105 BAR. I got a peak of 947 so I dialed back to 930 and sighted in to test accuracy at this velocity. I got single hole groups at the sight in range of 40 yards so I started to test various ranges using Strelok. From all I have read, these pellets should not be stable at 930 but I was rolling the spinners all the way to 120 yards today. Had an absolute blast. 68 shots from 220 down to 105 and a couple usable shots within 70 yards after that.

I forgot to mention how rediculously quiet the gun is at this tuning. Just hammer slap... and that is decreased with the reduced reg pressure.

Great news and thanks for the update I just shot mine (only 4 mags) over the weekend, just to shoot it but my left arm won't let me shoot properly so I only sighted in at 50 yards the best that I could do.
ASAC I'll update on all else, just one thing I found out or maybe it's me but I found that the plastic mags where very hard to aligned with the probe and I got a lot of flyers during my testings maybe the skirts are being damage between the mag and probe ?, and I also felt air escaping from the breach (at the mag to be more precise) when I shot from time to time, what does everyone think about it or any similar experience .......
To other matter can someone help me with 2 things, I want to know if there's a single shot tray for the R5M because I saw an EdgunWest video where Brian had those for sale for the R3M.
Last one, I want to convert/adapt the fill probe to a quick connect foster fitting to make it easier to fill the gun can someone give me a link to an adaptor or the threads measurements so I can buy it ?, last thing I remember is it was 1/8" BSP or something.

Thanks to all and happy shooting.

Alejandro

I have my .25 R5M with the stock regulator and plenum tuned at 116bar regulator pressure (+/- 1% 4" wika gauge on my tester) and that's good for 935fps peak HST with 25.4gr JSB's on the labradar. I have the HST set to 920fps.

The rifle falls gracefully off the regulator and drops progressively to 905 fps at 105bar which is where I have Pmin on the EDMU set.

I plan on playing with the 34gr JSBs and the larger Huma plenum once I can actually find some 34gr pellets...
