Quick Report of Nielsen 25 Cal 39gr Slugs in Condor ;- )

Holy Smoke !

Went out in the early am and shot some JSB 34gr KH's to be sure ProChrono was working ... It did when the sun came up (I did say I was out and about early). I went to my shooting area with the sole purpose to see if the velocity was going to be in the 900-925 area, I was not testing for accuracy as I assume they will shoot lights out .... everything shoots lights out so far in my Condor.

Well my JSB's were shooting 954fps at 5/0 Power Wheel setting ..... the Nielson 39gr slugs were shooting 896 at that same setting ... that was great. Now I cranked her up to 7/0, which is my setting for my Eun Jin 43gr pellets which are going between 925 and 935 fps ........ well the Nielsen slugs were leaving my Condor at 935 fps .... I'm Ecstatic !!!!!

A couple of things to note..

1) they loaded very, very smoothly like they ere made for this gun, a nice smooth solid fit ... not hard or tight, just perfect !
2) I was shooting at an old abandon house at 50+ yards as a backstop ... and could tell right away the the travel time to that house was much, much less.

I'm extremely happy with this slug .. I just ordered 600ea more, that amount with what I have will probably last me a very, very, very long time, as these will be used for long range jacks and predators, not smaller game at all. The next time I shoot them to sight in will be with my Field Hunter Condor and I know I will be able to get the same velocity.

Nick Nielsen ... these are awesome !

Today the wind was bad, but I was able to shoot 5 slugs and chronograph them.

I'm grouping around just under a nickel size group at 55 yards. Today I was shooting at 885+fps not the 935fps I was getting, but that was a different gun and set up a little different. I'm at 8/0 on the Power Wheel on this gun and have a "O" ring under the Top Hat.

These 39gr slugs are good performers, at this velocity I'm still getting 50+fpe at over 100 yards.... that works out fine for sure. Good medicine for big Jacks and YOTES too ! Would not go after a YOTE at that distance, but good to know you have the horsepower ;- )

"T3PRanch"Can you measure the diameter? I would like to know exact size for comparison to my hand cast.

I'm getting .2500 to .2505 on the 10ea I just measured .... these swaged slugs are spot on !

Good to know. Thanks. I'll size some of mine to .250 and test them in my 2 Condors. What barrel do you have? I am guessing 24".

Yes, my 25 cal Condors are 24" barrels.

Since my post on July 17, things have changed a bit ... the "O" ring is a different one #009 and the velocity has increased close to 100fps. I'm now getting a consistent 940-950 fps using the 39gr slugs. My Power Wheel is now set to 6/1,

I set the Power Wheel to 5/1 for JSB Heavies and they leave the barrel at ~975 ish ! I get 945 fps with the Eun Jins and they and the JSB's hit the same spot at 60 yards.

I have not shot the 39gr slug for POI yet with my new settings.
