Woohoo! I finally got it scoped and did some initial target shooting with it today. Didn't get out there as early as I would have like to and burned a bunch of precious daylight. I had installed a modified version of the Crown hammer kit and put in the titanium VS that I got from FX on Friday. Haven't swapped the Huma reg in yet, but I'm not in a big rush.

Anyways, I shot some groups with both the 380mm barrel and 700mm slug liner. The 700mm was supreme!!! Very little, if any harmonic issues. The shorty was decent at short range, but it didn't shoot very well with the ammo that I had with me beyond 40y (I tried JSM Monster RD and 24gr VK slugs),

I took some video throughout. My iPhone has been really finicky with autofocus, most of the videos started off fine and either got blurry or had the brightness shoot in sky high. I'm going to bring one of my Android phones out again tomorrow to show what I'm seeing through my scope. This thing is a freaking beast, the power to weight ratio is ridiculous!

Below is a quick video that I uploaded of the short config. I have a LOT of thoughts on this rifle already, but I'll throw my findings together in another thread before the end of the weekend. I'm calling mine the Black Mamba or aka FX C-squared 🙃

this is a new and expensive rifle and you are replacing major components now right after you open the box. ?

Im not being critical of you or of FX necessarily well maybe I am but somehow this just leaves me feeling a little cold towards the idea of owning a continuum which was on my short list

People do the same with AR15's, Motorbikes, Cars, etc. etc. it's called customising, the gun should still perform fine in it's factory state but it's much more fun to change stuff (personally I wouldn't swap out the reg but there you go).

It just seems like more fixing then customizing to me but you do make a point. I guess it’s value for dollar . If you need to change out parts to put in better parts I’d rather the gun had the better parts already there and possibly a high price . But I agree it’s looking at the sunject from a diifferent direction . Same with the barrels I’d rather buy the gun with the one barrel that I wanted .

I’m not saying I won’t buy an FX but I’d like to know what to expect. Which is what this forum is all about . For me I’d want to order the gun they way I’d want it and I’m sure you could if you knew what you needed to order. See my point ? A guy gets the gun Christmas morning all excited shoots it the next day shows it to his buddy who has one and finds out that his buddies gun shoots better because his buddy replaced some parts to make it better. I know it’s splitting hairs but you get my point

I mostly shoot in the mountains where there's always wind. Heavy ammo does a lot better, so I run my reg up pretty high. The stock configuration gives you the ability to run the reg a hair over 150, but for the Crown and 28-40gr ammo it's not enough, so you need the modifications to shoot them.

It would be great if the lighter slugs would suffice, the 23gr NSAs have a low BC and I can almost get away with shooting 24gr VKs (BC is 0.11-0.12 for me), but the weight is what hurts them both in the wind. 28gr's seems to be the minbar, but the heavier the better.

HI can you show groups with pellets please with 380mm , I bet it shoots like 18 or 25 gr sweet , I am excited to see results , Ill get my credit card ready lol , I like this short barrel for going threw woods , but if u got open land I like longer barrel , I am thinking of getting it for pellets here in 22 if u approve

If you shoot the 700mm in woods let us know hot it handles and shoulders , my only concern is it mite be too long because it is a rifle stye where like impact , though not my favorite gun is shorter because barrel is like the lenght of the gun , if you understand

I do know it is a like BETA gun because it is first release of a totally new barrel system and not it needs to be used to see how it holds up in real conditions ,

If u go shooting other then bench rest see how it is off hand

I'm out at my range on a brutally windy day doing some more testing with it. I brought some 18gr JSBs for the short barrel, but I don't really have any other ammo that is going to work for so I ordered a bunch of JSB Hades to test with (that'll be a next weekend thing).

I left the rifle on a pretty high reg setting, around 175-177bar. Today, my first order of business was to test the 28gr VKs with the 700mm barrel configuration, and shot a few with power shell on MAX. The velocity was 984fps, I didn't expect them to group too well, but I shot some at my 36y target and to my surprise they held tight.

Being one to go all in, I dialed in my 106y target and once again they held together in the wind. Having seen ammo do well at 100 and fall apart further out, I dialed in my 190y target and incredibly - they held together decently!

My LabRadar has a hard time with these .22 slugs, I found a mean average of what appear to be good reads and at 100y my BC is 0.092. I'm going to continue testing and go over the numbers to see how far out I can push them, but so far it is looking not bad 😎

Not sure if the wind will cooperate enough for me to test the 18gr JSBs that I brought, but as I mentioned in the video - it does not shoot the JSB Monster RDs nor 24gr slugs well beyond 40y

The 700mm is pretty long at 48.5” but when you consider a 600mm with the sliding shroud extended is 47.5” 1” gets you 3 more. And I think that 700mm barrel will make all the difference for slug shooters. Can’t wait to see what the .25 cal slugs can do.

Not sure if anyone saw that new AEAC “RMAC unbroken” video long but good.

Ernest said he’s been power tuning a .30cal Crown and he has the 44gr JSB’s going 950fps.
