Questions on .217’ slugs in factory LW 24” barrel.

When 36 grain NSA .217” seated in the factory LW Condor barrel. Some are impossible to seat with thumb. Some go quite easy.

I’m looking at reamers to lengthen throat depth and have a smooth transition for .218’s.
Any advice on if they’ve shot better after doing this as I see a large gap. I can only wonder if I gain speed from less blow by, accuracy with more bite, or loose from gained friction. I’d also like to take choke off if I were to decide it’s going to be a dedicated slug gun.

Diank,

single load a slug by hand. When it comes to any resistance, please tell me how much of slug is hanging out of breech.

You just need a shorter lighter weight slug. Rebated boat tail could help but inleade isn’t cut for overly long slugs. You find the one that’s body is no longer than entire JSB pellet it shoots best and you’ll be in business.

If a 44.75 JSB is say .450” (IDK just a guess) then the body of your slugs shouldn’t exceed total pellet length. The thinner nose of slug can but not body.

Well I’ll share what I learned.

The factory LW inleade takes 36 grain RBT’s or softer lead a lot easier. The gun is a much better shooter with 28.5-34 grain RBT

Needed to be a shorter slug, ream inleade deeper or stick with heavy JSB’s.

If I ever decide to cast my own I’d prefer a better seal & driving bands as a big light gap is seen even with .217’s.
