Question; should I ship my non-DOt air tank to USA?

As part of my transitioning back to USA I’m getting rid od airgun stuff I have in The Netherlands. I am either Selling it or giving it away depending on what it is.

Last June I bought a 7 L carbon fiber tank from Krale, it’s CE marked but obviously not DOT. I know I can’t have a no -dot tank filled in USA at say a scuba shop, legally. It’s a quality tank as I said purchased from Krale.

do you think it is worth it to ship back to USA and use future home compressor there or just sell it here in the Netherlands then buy a dot tank in USA? I’ll only need tank I have a quality hose regulator for it.

As you know and have already stated, you can't get the tank filled by a professional shop in the U.S. But you also likely won't be able to get a CE marked tank re-certified in the U.S. So if you bring it here you either have 3 years of use left on it, or if filling it yourself you would be able to continue using it only if you are comfortable with using an out-of-certification HPA vessel.

2 of my 3 larger tanks are CE only. I decided to just get them now and let the 5 years older TMH deal with the situation when re-certification time comes.

If you can find an appropriate DOT cylinder in stock to purchase I would probably sell your CE tank in Europe and use the money towards the DOT certified one for use with less hassle in the U.S. Purchase it now if you think you will want one - I don't foresee prices getting any cheaper, nor availability getting any better in the near future.

All above sounds very logical. I would add that IF the shipping into US from out of the country resulted in an inspection, a non DOT tank MIGHT be seized. Absolutely not certain that it would be seized even if opened for inspection but I would say possible and inspection of such packages seems to be happening much more frequently these days.
