Question regarding taking air rifle out of USA

If you could buy the airgun (and also apply to any other Sporting Goods) in USA you can take it with you when leaving out of border. When you get to the airport and checking in the luggage (you must have an air travel approved case), you let them know what you have a "airgun or gun" and they will put a tag on it and it gets a special treatment (away from you). When you get to your destination same process at your airport, you check out a "gun".

That story with scopes Odoyle mentioned earlier applies to US companies - ITAR sales permit/shipping across the border only (in EU something similar with NATO # rules, UK is specially affected lately), but taking with you in person across the border you have no problems but must register it with airgun at luggage/Passport control.

I am planning on shipping my FX Impact to the USA and it is going to Idaho, so no issues, if it was another state it could be. I think leaving as long as you have taken the proper safety / security steps I think you are ok. Coming back in with the gun, again will be state dependent and where you are filling through. NEVER FLY into NJ aka Newark and commute via land to another location / airport. Not personally experienced, but I know I don’t want to ever live in that crazy state or fly into it if I can help it with any type of “tool”.

As far as the US is concerned, the biggest issue will probably when you come back

- As in, proof or purchase otherwise someone will probably try to charge you tax on it

Read up on the rules of the place you are going to. Things you take for granted in the USA can and will get you in trouble in a foreign land

As in

- In many part of the world, moderator are a big-no

- Velocity/power level might be regulated

- Magazine capacity might be regulated

If you are going out there for a sanctioned match (ISSF 10M air pistol), you might want to check with the shooting federation of the host country
