Question-HW 44 Pistol

I'm sure Harry has own opinions, but IMO the HW44 is pretty awesome. I have the .177 and get 2 full mags of 10 each on the reg with JSB 8.44 @ 800fps. After maybe 1000 rounds the reg is starting to break in more and I'm seeing that I am getting closer to 23 shots on reg now. All I ask is 2 full mags.

I only have one area of complaint. The trigger is superb in it's 2 stages and breaks very cleanly, but for some reason (which may just be me) the angle of the trigger is just off a bit and I tend to pull the gun down a bit from POA. It could just be my hands as I have large hands and the handle feels like it could have a little bit more bulk to it and I could use the trigger a tiny bit forward. Now this is really nit-picking a great gun in all respects. Put a bipod on it and it's shooting lasers.

Glem
& ctshooter , I have only played with it inside so far too cold outside! I can get 20yds between my basement & garage. Very accurate- with a vortex venom red dot (3) minute of angle dot, can cover 5shot groups with a dime off bench! If I put a scope on it I know I could do much better.I am in my late 60s not great eyes. Trigger is awsome. I am very satisfied with this purchase and I understand its not for everybody reading the different blogs they say its to much money for a plastic pistol . If they owned one they would not be saying this as this (ballistic polymer) pistol is a work of art. 10 shot rotary mag- side lever bolt action cycles flawlessly Very nice grip left or right handed- trigger ranks up there with the best of them, almost as nice as my P-70 ! I shoot 2 mags 200bar-120bar then refill- have not played with numbers on crony yet. Mine is also a .177 and i'm shooting 10.5 Crossmans ! Forgot to mention very QUIET with moderator! Barks pretty good without it! Also the WEIHRAUCH pressure gauge is a WIKA!

I love this thing!

Haha - yes without the moderator the HW44 definitely has some bark. The moderator is pretty impressive at taking a very loud bark down to a tiny snap.

I have a cheapo 2x pistol scope I've been using to take the HW44 out to about 17 yards (indoor max range) and benched it's much more accurate than me. It could probably do hole on hole if I could.

Now imagine where youre at, moderators werent allowed and air pistols were limited to 500fps. Would you bother getting one?

Considering a .22 for this reason.

Glem, If you like accuracy and I'm sure you do! YES

No moderator no big deal just take it off. YES

As far as 500 fps I'm not sure how to detune this pistol but I'm pretty sure it's possible as it is regulated.

You will have to do a little more research? Maybe with a JUMBO MONSTER heavy.22 pellet you could get it down to 500fps?

Anyone out there with a .22 can chime in on this?

Hope this helps.

I agree ct very capable of pellet on pellet. This gun is a real shooter!

I see in your profile your from CT. anywhere close to Foxwoods?

Harry - I'm over in the Danbury area. Closest to Wooster Mountain range.

Yeah - I would avoid that scope. Probably not enough eye relief for a pistol. A nice Vortex or Trijicon 1x red dot works great. I have the 1 MOA Trijicon RMR https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071XFFTJ8 which I use on this pistol and others. You can adjust the brightness down to a pinpoint dot for amazing accuracy. Otherwise I'd say look into a long eye relief pistol scope.

I have a Sig Sauer red dot sight on my HW44 currently but I have a UTG 1.5 to 4 power scope on my PP700. It is a relatively large pistol scope and isn't particularly light but it is a great scope for the money that works well for me. It is a simple duplex reticle. I have a BSA Edge 2x scope on a P17 that is also good but is also duplex reticle. Simmons makes a smaller and lighter pistol scope that many people recommend but I'm not sure of the reticle type for that one.

My first outing with the HW44 was on a cold and windy day but to say it was impressive would be a major understatement. Definitely capable of one hole accuracy, plenty of power, and build quality seems excellent. Shot count as noted is about 2 mags per fill which seems fine for a pistol to me. It is the only gun I own that I didn't want to work the trigger some-it is absolutely excellent out of the box and didn't need even any adjustment.
