Question for Brocock Bantam owners

AoA replaced the barrel on my Sniper HP and the barrel's centering collar is totally different from my original barrel. I'm wondering which design other people have... Please tell me:

1) Which Bantam variation you have

2) Is your centering collar is at the muzzle or set back from the muzzle

3) Is your centering collar solid or vented

Original barrel:

New barrel:

FWIW, without an LDC the gun is totally NOT backyard friendly anymore. That extra inch or inch-and-a-half difference in where the collar is located on the barrel makes a huge difference in sound moderation.

Edit - Actually it just occurred to me that the collar on my replacement barrel is event vented (original one was solid) and yet the gun is significantly louder without the LDC. I guess I would have expected this to help (not hurt) the quietness of the gun but that certainly was not the case here...

Thanks!

Hello

I can answer this. Early version is an modification made by our techs to provide better performance on some of the first rifles shipped to the states. The latter version is the factory oem design based on our recommendations for America rifles. Many other changes including hammer and adjuster can be found from early to latter models. Brocock is constantly improving this line of products to give the most robust value for the spend.

Hi Rob,
Do you know why the HP model does not have an air stripper like the sniper HR?

Thanks for this info Rob :)

Hello

The HR or Huma regulated rifles and the HP or High Power rifles that are also Huma regulated with the Sniper designation now share the same system of a threaded disc with vent holes on the muzzle end to secure the shroud. On earlier versions Brocock used a stripper that extended the centering disc out beyond the muzzle end by a inch or so.

Yeah, I have heard of folks drilling holes in the back end of the shroud. I have been trying to recall what someone was recommending... I vaguely recall the poster saying the area of the holes you drill should be some percentage (less than) of your gun's caliber. So with a .22 it might want a combined area of the holes being 75% of that. I'd love to get input from anyone who has had good luck doing this!

My sniper hp, purchased from AoA last November, has the same setup as the new one you just received back. Without the shroud it is very loud. I wouldn't consider it backyard friendly even with the shroud attached. I added a donnyfl sumo and it is great now. I haven't removed the shroud in forever, so I don't know if poi changes. I do remove my sumo when I take it somewhere and poi doesn't shift when reattaching.

Hows the accuracy with the new barrel?
