Question about SCBA valves

A CGA 347 fill adaptor will fit both 346 and 347 valves. A CGA 346 will only fit 346 valves. If you over tighten it you will crush the Oring and cause it to leak. Put a new Oring in it and only tighten it until you feel it start to squash, no more. You will not find an adaptor to fit that type of valve that doesn't use an Oring or Delrin type washer. The only other type fill adaptors are DIN 200 and 300. Both use Orings, and both won't fit your valve.

Hi Centercut and everybody on the forum......I found the answere to my leaking cga347 adapter. I took the tank and adapter to the guy in the dive shop and he immediately said the rubber o-ring is the problem......they always LEAK.....He said Scott valves all have the vent holes drilled threw the threads which prevents you from using the o-ring.......some time you can use the Delrin washer but they also have some problems. He suggested go online to the welding supply shop and get a solid brass or stainless Steel.......I found one on eBay.....item number 252 857 847 079. I ordered one I’ll post a update in a few day when it arrives........ Thanks again for the help and sharing your knowledge .....Porkey

Hi LTU 013......I measured the original,it’s metric and could not find any metrics but I found the fraction size.......7/16x1/4x3/32.....#78 o-ring.....made by Danco Inc. Boothwyn pa. 19061........I found them at a local hardware store, Ace Hardware, Cleveland Ohio......My guy in the dive shop who fills the tank knew exactly what my problem was .......He showed me his fill adapter from his compressor, it had a delrin washer on the end of the nipple, I could see that his was also chewed up from the sharp edges from the Scott valve vent holes........He also said he doesn’t know of any purpose for those vent holes.......Maybe that valve is designed for the solid nipple only?? I also disassembled my fill valve.....It had red locktite on it but it came apart easy, I measured the thread and to my surprise it’s npt 1/4......Porkey

Yes, when it started leaking and I removed adapter, I realized those Scott holes already damaged o-ring a bit

I rotated adapter and it sealed again, but I guess it's just matter of time it will leak again.

Thanks Porkey, I like that brass nipple idea, please let us know if it works or not.

Tscktran, if you'll read description - it says anodized aluminum, and it also has o-ring.

Not sure if it's good for such a high pressure

Yes, those Stickman adapters are pretty good but not cheap.

My friend has one for almost 2 years. Didn't have any problems so far, no leaks everything is working. I was using his tank last weekend, I don't know what is inside of original fill adapter - it is aluminum or stainless steel.

On the other hand, I got Chinese one - made from stainless steel, built like a tank... started leaking after one week of use.

Please share your experience, when you will get one.

I will have to replace mine pretty soon.

Hi Airgun Nation Family (and Everyone on this SCBA Valve thread)

I just purchased a "used" 4500 psi Scott Air Tank on Ebay. It's the 45 minute/ 66 cubic foot size.

I'm very happy with the tank.

My questions to the airgun community center on the NXG2 Gauge that came with this tank (photos attached below).

Is anyone familiar with this type of gauge and what type apparatus can I connect to it to so I can fill my air guns?

(The reason I ask is because I do not see an extension to attach a CGA-347)

also

REGARDING the "Snap/Change" nipple/probe---I know it was designed to easily connect the air breathing apparatus that firefighters use, but for filling airguns, that nipple/probe looks problematic.

Any suggestions of types of connections I could use on this type of gauge (or any knowledge) the airgun community can impart on me (and interested others) would be greatly appreciated.

Even if I scrap this gauge and replace it with a brand new one (with 7/8 - 14 UNF threads) I would still like to hear solutions and info about the NXG2 ( so that future air gunners can reference and benefit)

I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR TIME, READING and RESPONDING

Best Regards

Jef
