Question about quality.

Don't let the herd mentality shut you down. Shoot what makes you happy. There is a lot of satisfaction in taking an underdog to a fight and winning.

I don’t believe that posters were trying to “shut him down” what does that mean anyway? We are free to shoot what we like. Inexpensive PCPs are quite capable in the right hands. My first the Gamo Urban is still as accurate as when I first purchased. Do I shoot it much? No, because once I upgraded, I did not look back. Just as the OP is excited about his Fortitude, so are some with their Impacts, Daystates, EdGuns, etc. It’s all good...I was once very excited with my Urban. Now I’m excited with my Bantam Sniper HR. We are ALL shooters whatever the platform.😏

So impressive, seriously. The Benjamin/Crosman PCP's are amazing. My three year old Maximus is as accurate, powerful, and rugged as it was when new.

No issues at all. Yes, they feel more "industrial" than "refined", but man they work, and work well. Enjoy!

Yes sir and if I break it half in two, I can buy another with out breaking the bank. Plus I enjoy 60 shots per fill.

After the abuse from these guys on the fortitude, I'm not sure I want to share anything about the Stormrider.

You've got a really good gun. Take care of it!

I would possibly try a squirrel out to 80 yards but beyond that I'm concerned the fpe would not make a humane kill.

You've got a gun that shoots great, and you're a good shooter. Don't let anyone make you feel less than excited about that! 👍🏼😊

🔶 You mentioned that energy might not be enough beyond 80y to make a humane kill.

Punching the numbers into a ballistic calculator shows your JSB 16 right around 12 FPE at 80 yards.

Now that is the energy our British AG friends start out with...!

And shoot uncountable massses of pigeons and rabbits at 40 yards and beyond!!

Your 80y + the British 40y = 120 yards .... 😄

So, at 100y you still got 10FPE, plenty to kill humanely. Both you and your gun look like you're up to the task. 👍🏼

I took it to the inlaws today where I can stretch out some. 100 yard 5 shot groups ranged from 1.25" to .625" ( 1 1/4 to 5/8). The groupings were 4.25" low at 100 yards. I did not recenter as my average squirrel shot is 40 yards.

When the wind blew AT ALL there was no accuracy to speak of. Groups opened to 3-5 inches. The 15.86 gr pellet just could not buck the wind.

Those are very decent groups out to 100 yards. How many shots in a group?

Wind is where pellets really break down at distance, heck even closer up. I was shooting in gusting 20-40 mph winds yesterday and at 35 yards they were spreading the groups almost 3 inches. Slugs do much better under windy conditions and at distances past 40-50 yards because their better BC also helps them retain velocity.

Add the hours you spent correcting these issues and what you value your time to be and you've got less than a cheap gun?

Once you start investing your time and money into a less expensive gun. You can bring out better accuracy but you won’t ever recoup the investment. Or make it as refined as a pricier PCP. Some end up modding and spending as much as just buying a better PCP to begin with. Enjoy your rig, know that it won’t be your last PCP. Good shooting on the squirrels.

I went down this road first with my $80 Remington 1200 BB. I replaced the spring, piston seal and improved the trigger.

Next was a Marauder. I went through 3 factory barrels to get an accurate one. Then trying the b-staley mod, smoothing surfaces and such.

Then I upgraded to an AA S500 EXTRA-FAC. It was more consistent and nicer to shoot than the M-Rod. Stock. A year later I installed a regulator, retuned for 12fpe max and put in an ultimate sporter stock. After that I purchased a dedicated 12fpe gun(EV-2) and the S500 went on to be tuned for slug shooting.

After the EV-2 I borrowed an FWB800X, then AAFTP900. I've ended up with a Thomas as my dedicated target gun. I still own the break barrel and S500. Oh an I recently bought a used 430L.

This is my airgun journey from ashy to classy. If the OP likes his gun and doesn't want to spend more so be it. But beware, if you(OP) get together with other shooter's and try thier expensive guns your tone nay change.

Also, Jim, back down. We don't need any of the SJW triggered crap here. It's obvious you can't help but be intolerant of those you dont agree with. Walk away next time and think if this thread, and the larger forum in general are worth the extra timexand stress. So maybe next time you get aggro reading a comment walk away, talk to the wife or kids for a while. I'm sure they are far more worthy of your attention.

All of my cheap guns have way more money and time in them than they will ever be worth. That’s the difference between a hobby and a business. Buy a hot rod, build a hot rod. Buy a house, build a house. Some like the journey and don’t care about the money. The experience and knowledge gained is priceless. But........I still like my expensive guns. The problem is they get boring quick. Look at the classifieds. A guy stuck with a Skyhawk or Hatsan wonders why would a guy ever sell a Cricket, Taipan or Edgun. The answer, boredom.

Whatever you do "keep that rifle"!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because it's rare that even expensive PCP's shoot that well. Unless of course the groups you haven't shown are the normal 3/4" at 50Y that many PCP's are capable of.

I've shot quite a few groups around that size at 50Y with most of my PCP's but those same rifles won't do it consistently. In other words they are normal, maybe even very good, but not exceptionally accurate, and they are not cheap rifles either.

I have two PCP's...a 22 cal Airforce Talon and a 25 cal Benjamin Marauder Gen I. both I purchased new.

I'm currently eyeing an FX Impact. why? just because I like the physical appearance. do I "Need" it? no...I really don't. the two PCP's I currently possess are capable of accuracy beyond that of which I normally shoot them with. would I shoot a new FX more? I don't know. I also have a Remington 700 BDL that is an absolute "tack driver" but do I "Need" a Kimber or Weatherby too?

I have made some mods to each...but have not re-engineered/re-designed/re-built them. as an example; I converted the Talon into a 'Talondor' by purchasing and installing factory Airforce parts.

in the end...it's each to his own...

Some of the inexpensive PCP's shoot really well these days. I say be happy with what you have and what you can afford. Plenty will want to say buy this brand because I own one and it's the best. What works for one person may not be the best choice for another. Many modern PCP's shoot so well I've found myself looking at durability and overall build quality to set them apart.

Question about Quality. You are lucky. I bought my Fortitude Gen2, on 03-31-2020, filled it to 2000psi, let it sit for three days, it leaked down by 600psi in three days. I sent it back to Pyramyd air, asked for the 10shot for $10.00, and for them to do a 3 day Pressure leak test. to verify it will not be a leaker. Pyramym air is just barely getting to doing a Pressure test as of Friday 05-01-2020 as covet virus has them Very Backed up. Crosman could do a better job of Deburring before assembly. This is a Cheap $300.00 gun. I have plenty of other airguns to shoot. They did Include a Free Magazine and a tin of 500 Crosman pellets CPHP, (break in pellets) as the New Fortitude had a special going on that my Original gun did not have, so I cannot complain to much.

So the fixes you did to your Fortitude, and I didnt see any fixes to the Trigger, or a Metal trigger Replacement. you may be able to get more accuracy out of your gun with some trigger work/ metal trigger replacement. I am following as I will be getting my new, hopefully, Non leaking out of the box Fortitude, and to hopefully get to the accuracy that yours is at. I dont think I saw what Caliber your fortitude was?
