I recently bought a Royale 400, mostly out of curiosity. I have owned a Crown, nice rifle, but had a few quirks I didn't like. So, I went old school and bought a Royale. To my surprise, this may be the most accurate air rifle I have ever owned, it's amazing. I have put a couple of tins through it now, haven't even cleaned the barrel, and it is shooting fully on par with my RAW and Red Wolf.

Getting around to my question. I have not had the barrel off of the Royale, and I can't tell from the online information, is there a sleeve/liner assembly involved, or is it a one-piece barrel with a Smooth Twist bore? I can't see how that can be achieved with any traditional rifling process, so I'm guessing it is a sleeve with a pressed-in liner. Thanks for any information anyone can share.

What Glem said mate. I also went through the STX phase with my Impact X but now only recently went back to a Royale 400. The old smooth twist barrels are amazing. My Wildcat MK1 and Royale both shoot just as good or better than the Impact X that I had. But the biggest advantages for me is the POI never changing, much more solid barrel, and never. . . . I mean never having to clean the barrel to maintain accuracy or POI. I still get the feeling that the new barrel system must be cheaper to make. And thats fine, but I wish they would offer the old barrels as an option on all models. Especially for people who only want to shoot pellets. Just my thoughts. Congratulations on the 400.

I'll be talking about the 400 a little in my next video. ;)

It truly is an outstanding rifle! I recently did have to clean the barrel to get my accuracy back but, that's only because the poor thing was sitting and not being shot due to getting ready for competitions and the Daystates I've had coming into my collection. I've had to dedicate a lot of time away from my "sweetheart". I think I usually clean the barrel once a year simply out of principal. I really love the lack of maintenance that the smooth twist is capable of.

I like the 400 so much that picked up a second one for friends to shoot, picked up a Grade 2 stock for my #1 big $$$!!!, picked up right hand stock as a spare or a change of pace, have about 8 magazines for them, found the best SS trays for them, and always have a stock of 18g JSB's to feed them.

This is how the barrel ends.
