I just got home from a forced camping trip courtesy of the employer. While away from the world, I spent a lot of time on the blackboard in my head. We (the kids) shoot a NRA competition and I want to build a challenge for them and I want to polish my 75-100+ yard shooting. I already had the 4" steel from Walmart, today I bought a 2" and a 1.25" disc and a heavy lag bolt and a handful of washers. The sawhorse legs and rubber mat backstop were already in use.
The excercise I plan to work the kids with is loosely based on KYL, Know Your Limits. I'm still working on the scoring, at first attempt will be:
Target bank at 35-70 yards, yardage unannounced to shooters.
5 shots for score per round. One round standing, one round kneeling or stitting, one round prone.
Largest target=1 point
smallest target =4 points.
For the high school age kids more strict rules.
One miss and you are done
Following shots must be at same or smaller targets
+1 Score to each hit for sitting/kneeling shots
+2 score each hit for standing shot.
I am open to suggestions to keep the younger generation engaged.
Thanks
