Q about stock shot string for AF Texan .257

Sorry for this lame answer but with new 4500psi tank, 6-10 at most within a 40 fps spread? Original 3K steel tank, lol, 2-4?

I’m friends with the guy that tricks Texans out and competes. He runs a huge buddy bottle on his .257 for 7 consistent shots. We’re quite different from each other in he competes, I wouldn’t ever spend time/money traveling to compete. I still love .177 spring guns. He hates them. I’d prefer to shoot tethered where he/most would not.

Point is any of The Texans, new 4500psi CF bottle or not aren’t meant for a lot of shots. I personally want a 6K step down in-line reg & 8-10’ of hose to set up on a BR or bipod & shoot targets or varmints, consistently, shot after shot. I have a big compressor so it’s logical for me. If I’m gonna put a 3/4”-1” 36” 1:12 or 1:13 chrome lined Bartlein or PAC-NOR, maybe a Bobby Hart, it’s all for nothing if my slugs aren’t all within a 10-20 fps spread at most. The reg should have 10 fps or less but my sizing slugs 0.0003” over is a huge part of consistency/accuracy.

Depends on how big a steel gong you use. lol I think if you at a 24" x 24" you could ding it all day long.

At 400 yards the projectile will drop 23-24 feet. At 200 yards it is dropping about 45 inches.

Here is at 200 yards shooting tethered with regulator. I'm steal working on dialing in bullet selection, velocity....etc.

Here is a recent at 100 yards, again tethered with regulator. Shooting a 60gr HP that I cast.

5 rounds (two are in the same hole, second from left)

The OP said .257 so the new tank / valve is not even compatible as it is only for the .457
