Pyramydair just raised pellet prices!

Received an email this AM from Air Arms. Responding to an email that I sent to them, politely letting them know that the "slight" increase in prices did not go unnoticed. (Approaching 40%)

Their response basically laying the increase at the door step of JSB, manufacturer of their pellets. They summarized the response to imply we will probably be seeing this increase across the board for all product lines produced by JSB.

Your seem surprised… And it’s not going to end with just those few either….

I haven’t bought any JSB manufactured pellets (i.e. JSB, AA, FX) since I saw the writing on the wall happened during the early part of 2019 with supply chain issues. At that time, I estimated my consumption annually based on the previous two years and bought enough to keep me supplied through 2023. I did spread the orders around and bought based on the greatest savings and availability. Flame me and call me a hoarder but I’m calling it experienced economics. The money I’m saving on consumables such as pellets, I’m able to reinvest in other aspects of the sport.

Guys, this isn’t going away. Prices on pellets will continue to go up. When was the last time you saw a price drop? Yeah, that’s what I thought…
The reasons really won’t and don’t matter. The fact it will and you knowing it will should be your wake up call.
I find it crazy, thousands of dollars are spent on a single gun yet the shooter will only purchase a few tins of ammo at a time. Find the ammo it likes best and buy it up. Quit waiting for the next new batch or shape or weight or whatever. The price you are going to pay will not be worth the elusive smaller 1/4 moa everyone seeks. Besides, the accuracy can go the other way too….

Yep.

I stock up whenever I can and I don't wait to get anywhere near "out" before I do so.

I figure, even if I eventually lose interest in airguns, I'll still be able to sell them to a private party for more than I paid for them (inflation). And then there's lead's seemingly growing reputation as not environmentally friendly. I suspect that a lot more "environmentally friendly" laws will be coming in the future, common sense be damned. I understand Cali has bans on lead projectiles from firearms already, but more ubiquitous bans of the sale of lead projectiles, eventually including pellets, don't seem too far fetched to me.

(And to hopefully head off a political debate on the "common sense be damned" comment, oxidation of a chunk of lead/shot pellet renders it effectively inert. Also, lead is naturally present in all soils, so it's already there).

I’m not seeing the price increase that alarming.

jsb went up $1 in the last year. Believe they are $20 per tin on most sites

utah air is the only site that has had inventory from time to time. I believe that’s because they have a 5 tin limit.

pyramid air and airgun depot are part of the problem imo, they allowed ppl to place orders for over 100tins on backorder. At least now they limit to 8 tins. That should help.

but anyway, including shipping and buy 4 get 1 free. U can have jsb pellets on your door for $19 a tin. That’s a pretty average price. Pyramid air with buy 3 get one free would be cheaper. But they never have inventory.

We all hate to see prices raise. Me too, as a senior on a pretty fixed income. But come on guys. I am new with the air gun and love it but at. 04 a shot for good .177 pellets compared to about 1.35 a shot(absolute minimum) in center fire, be happy. I love my TX200. Accurate, cheap to shoot, no reloading and no cleaning. Only problem, no competition less than 4 hrs away.
