Results Pyramyd Air Cup Benchrest Qualifying Results

Nation,

Here are the qualifying results from today's Benchrest competition. Winners that advance to tomorrow's Finals round have dots next to their names. The third picture has no dots on the sheet, so the top 9 advance.

I liked seeing the cards they shot at 100 yds. Even with all the sighters, you get to see how some of the best in the world are shooting. They aren’t blowing out the center x on every shot. Helps the rest of us see that buying a $2500 rifle isn’t going to get you those tiny little groups that are hand picked in no wind situations.

I’m not knocking those tiny groups people show, because I would post it too if I could do it!

But it is nice to see shots that are spread out, and gives me hope that when we aren’t stacking pellets all day, that even those guys aren’t doing it all the time either.

John B shoots FT with us here at the SVFTC .. And being FT started this AM and round 2 bench rest is yet to shoot, my money says John is having to do double duty and shooting FT then BR after.

Long day if that is the case ... LONG DAY !! .. then day 3 to finish FT

Wow, I didn't even think about that. Gonna be tough to follow up on the bench after a 3 or 4 hour FT event. I wish your pal the best!

Nation,

The Field Target competition started at 9 AM, and finished around 3:30 PM, so the days benchrest competition was delayed and held off, due to a lot of benchrest guys were shooting Field Target as well. It was a bit longer than most people thought.

I'll post full results as I can get them

Congrats Justin Welch! Those CA boys can shoot!!! ;)

Mike, yes congrats to Justin

I was comparing yesterdays qualifying scores to today. That Field Target Match must have taken it's toll on John Bagakis as he went from top qualifying score to 8th place today?

But check this out. Todd Blanchard went from last place qualifier yesterday to 2nd place today, and Ed Lenarduzzi went from next to last qualifier to 5th place!

Those long Field Target matches will wear you out!

That happens all the time Fuss. More than likely his guess factor wasn’t as good in the finals as in the qualifier. When conditions get bad it’s not really wind reading, it’s wind guessing. It happens when the wind shifts just as you’re pulling the trigger. Look at Ernest Rowe’s card. He would have won if not for one shot that missed a target entirely and resulted in a 3 for that target.

Probably would have been smarter to do the 100Y BR first and then the FT. Hopefully they’ll learn for next year...

Yeah, they should hold the 100 yd match first and then do FT.

Look at it like this let's say the average FT course is 15 lanes with 2 targets each, with 2 shots per target for a total of 60 possible points.

Typical time allowed is one (1) minute per shot with one (1) minute set-up time per lane. For example: Four (4) shots on a lane equal five (5) minutes of time for that lane.

So 5x15= 75 minutes for one shooter. But there are usually 2 shooters per lane so that doubles to 2.5 hours. Now if you have three shooters per lane then we're looking at 3.75 hrs and that's not counting time taken walking to each lane and set up?
