Pyramyd Air/Airgun Depot - falling apart

I’m done with Pyramyd Air and Airgun Depot unless there is no other choice for something I really need. I’ve placed two orders with them over the past 6 weeks. In BOTH cases, I received someone else’s order. Contacting them about this was nothing but frustrating. After 3 weeks the first order was sent to me properly. The second order involved a scope. After I failed to get it (got something else instead that was someone else’s order) once again it was days to get in touch with them. They promised to ship the scope right away but with no action 3 days later I bought it from another dealer. I emailed them to cancel but they were so slow about doing that it had already shipped. So, they had FedEx turn it around and return it. They’ve had it back a week now with no refund and no communication. Both of these issues could have been avoided by someone simply verifying the invoice inside the package before applying the shipping label.

These 2 companies are essentially the same and both are performing very poorly in my opinion. I understand the first few weeks of the COVID-19 issue that adjustments were needed but it’s been over 3 months now and they’ve gone downhill. I will avoid doing business with them in the future and I advise others to use caution and expect screwups.

Very sad to watch premier airgun companies go down the drain. So many complaints evidence poor management. Last year while checking out my $48.00 worth of pellets order I was shocked by the $68.42 shipping. I called PA and mentioned that 4 tins easily fit in an $8.30 USPS flat rate Priority mail box. Their employee's unfriendly answer was: We ship Fedex and that's the way it is... My reply was: I thought you were in the airgun business not in the shipping business! Needless to say, since then, I stopped buying from them not only pellets but scopes, air rifles and accessories. Recently I needed some pellets currently available only from PA and to my surprise they had changed their shipping methods to more reasonable rates. BTW their FEDEX/ USPS "smart post" rate SUCKED. It must have been their dumbest shipping idea. ( 3-4 weeks) Hope that they get their act together and once again serve well the airgun market.

Not sure who thought up the idea of “smart post”. I hate it. Fedex is literally 3 miles from my house I could simply go there and pickup the package, but no it HAS to go to the post office and sit there for 3 more days before it’s delivered. Sucks is too kind. Ridiculously dumb in my opinion. Considering that the post office is literally loosing billions of our tax dollars per year why not charge what it costs to ship something and at least perform the duties of delivering in a timely manner. My 2 cents.

sorry pyramyd not your fault that method sucks. Try not using that though.

Ron, I'm in the same boat. I cancelled an order that was later shipped and my account charged without my authorization. I called to complain and the shipment was sent back before it got to me, two weeks later I still don't have a credit in my checking account. The frustrating part is that I had to go through the entire RMA process even though I never received the merchandise. The excuse I got is that the compressor is still in quarantine (more than 1 1/2 weeks) and hasn't been checked in even though their written policy is that returned merchandise must be in quarantine for 48 hours.

I guess they are getting too big to care.

"Too big to care" is my thought too. Airgun Depot did give me a $50 gift certificate (in points you have to redeem) for all of the trouble (2 mis-shipped orders in a row). I just used it last night to order pellets. If all goes according to plan that will be my last purchase from them. There are other places to do business with that seem more interested in order accuracy and taking care of the customer promptly and accurately.

I've done business with Precision and a little bit with Trenier as well. I also just found Ohio Airguns (ohioarguns.com). That's run by a pleasant sounding man named Jason. Fast shipping and reasonable shipping costs. I've placed a couple of orders with them and will probably order more. They are closer to me than Utah or AoA so the shipping is maybe a day quicker.

I'm glad you had better luck than me. Unfortunately I had to get my bank involved today. I used my debit card instead of a credit card, a mistake I will not make again.

Right - and don't use PayPal either if that comes straight out of your bank account. That refund can take a while (not PayPal's fault) in my experience. A credit card is the way to go with Pyramyd and Airgun Depot.

Followup - I’m the OP here and when I wrote the original post what I said was true and things were bad. But, I gotta say, Pyramyd Air has really upped their game and is doing a good job. I’ve ordered a few times from them lately after a test order went well. The service was fast, orders were accurately filled, and it seems they are using FedEx now as the default shipping so that’s an upgrade right there.

Good recovery, Pyramyd, and well done,

Hello all, I am new to the Air gun scene. And my first purchase with Airgun Depot has been a nightmare. On March 19,2021 I ordered the Airforce Texan LSS Hunters combo, rather large purchase so I used the Affirm link and was approved. So i place my order that day and the purchase showed to be back ordered til the later part of April (no problem i sell supplies so i understand back orders). The Affirm loan expires after 30 days so someone from AGD emailed me that i would have to reapply, so i called in and actually talked to someone from AGD and then Affirm. i was told by AGD that this second loan would be the last time i would have to deal with it, NOPE.... Towards the end of 30 days it was about to expire and nothing was done as i was previously told 3 times by AGD.. I finally wrote a harsh email telling them i was very frustrated not only by the fact that this second loan was about to go away, but also the fact that the back order date keeps moving further out... They took care of the loan situation, but as of right now (3 months later) my purchase is still on back order. I any other air gun dealer offered this combo set up i would cancel this order and take my business elsewhere!

It's not just airguns that are back-ordered. It's just about everything - appliances, windows, doors, kayaks, bicycles, fishing rods, fishing lures, truck caps, pellets, ammo, even food items in many cases...on and on. I assume things will eventually pick up but until then we just have to deal with it. And once its in stock then you have to deal with some shippers - USPS in particular. Companies and retailers can't hire workers for various reasons. The supply chain for raw materials has been interrupted for many raw materials and that has wide-ranging consequences. You are not alone - its affecting everyone world-wide. But - it is frustrating for sure.

I remember the good ole days............................................ of last year.

I had extremely good service experiences with pyramyd PRIOR to covid. During the first few months of lockdown it was totally understandable that there had to be a learning curve. Then they assured people that they were splitting shifts and working around the clock to fulfill people’s orders. Again, I wasn’t phased. Fast forward to this year. The pandemic is winding down, but pyramyd STILL hasn’t been able to catch up. Now I totally understand the back log of things that are on order, but can’t be fulfilled, but explain why I can buy an order of “in stock” pellets, that takes 2 weeks to get to me (the majority of this being the shipping label created, but shipment not dropped at FedEx or usps), and my email trying to change the shipping carrier (fedex ALWAYS screws up my Adress) going unanswered until a WEEK after the pellets finally arrived. This is bad management at its best. If your order is routine, you have no issue, but if you try to contact them in ANY way possible, your request falls on deaf ears.
This is why I started looking at other places to do my business. I settled on Utah Airguns. Not only is the shipping faster (from west go east coast and STILL faster), but when I call, a person answers!!!! and when I email, A PERSON ANSWERS!

I may be a little wound up about this subject, but pyramyd has lost my business indefinitely, until their act is cleaned up. Utah Airguns cares about their customers, and I feel pyramyd does not.

Rant over.

I've had mostly very good experiences with pyramyd, out of about 20 different ones, one that I was not happy about ended up working out...wrong tracking number still ended up on my doorstep somehow. However I will not be ordering a gun from there anytime soon because the one and only one..I have ordered took much longer than it should have...Talon Tunes rocks! Tony had my gun shipped the next day! Tony has my business from now on
