pyramid cup anyone?

Ken,

I'm not going to compete in the Benchrest shoot, too specific to equipment. I'd love to try and do benchrest, but I do not stand a chance of doing anything against basically pro shooters shooting rigs up to .35 caliber. It would be competitive suicide, so to speak. There's going to be over 110 competitors there for the Field Target competition, and I don't think you'll see more than a handful competing in Benchrest as well. If they had a class where you are limited to Field Target rigs, then you would see over 90% of the Field Target competitors shooting it. I know I would.

Looking forward to meet you and all others from Nation as well.

I agree and I have a bit of a gripe about that.I've always would have liked to have tried competition. I did try 1 along time ago when I had a steady aim. Competed in a 22 rimfire match.I was using a single shot target rifle my National Guard Unit had stowed in a locker. The rules only allowed the basic rifle, open sights. I saw guys there with all this stuff, custom stocks, jackets, butt hooks.Minus the scope and modern electric tech.Of course my team placed so poorly I did'nt even bother to look at the score. That has left me a bit soured to participating in shooting competitions. All these bells and whistles and specialized equipment, shooting jackets with straps and hooks, butt hooks, adj butt pads, toe pads, shooting mitts, weights and counter weights, big target knob scope wheels and target scopes and scopes that do it all now just press a button and WaaLaa your dead on,and all the phone apts, weather apts, and Whateverelse that dam phone can do.I'm sure there's more yet.I would'nt doubt there are even (dietary supplements) loosely speaking.I woud'nt doubt someone somewhere has tried surgury of some kind that would enhance their abilities beyond the norm.I remember some top fuel dragsters drivers back in the day had eye surgury to improve their reaction time at the light. So whoever has devoted the most cash in equipment has the edge. It's like car races, the riches race teams are the only ones winning.Which is fine if your the one of those teams or a spectator.BUT how about a catagory where you just bring the rifle.huh? Good ole fashion turkey shoot. Now someone will pipe in and point to Field Target and say that's what thats for. NOPE,specialized equipment is used there too.no not the bucket and sticks and the keep your a$$ dry kind of butt pad. Well that's my tangent for the month.Have fun at the event. I hope to be there to browse the venders stalls,

There is a class for the regular air gunner, it is called the Hunter Class. I have been soundly beaten by shooters using a .177 Marauder and high end rifles of different brands. It is truly up to the shooter.

+1

I finished 7th by a point or two out of the top five at two consecutive Nationals in Hunter Class. The first year with a stock marauder and UTG 3-12 scope that wouldn't repeat ranging. The next year I used a stock AAS500 and Hawke Endurance scope. Equipment is only a small part.
