PW Adjustment on .25 Cal Condor Hunter for Two Different Pellets.

Yesterday I made some changes to my Condor after an "O" ring change. JSB KH's were going out at 1005+fps and EJH's were going out in the 940fps range. The EJH's were shooting great at 60 yds, the JSB KH's were so so. PW was set at 6/1

So today I turned the PW back another full revolution to 5/1 ... JSB KH's are coming out about 975fps, and hit at the same 60 yard zero, with a modest velocity change of 975fps, accuracy was still OK, not the greatest, but hunting OK as in about a tight 1 1/8' circle at 60 yds - (did not shoot EJH's at this PW setting) ... the groups seemed to be tighter then when shot at 1000+fps, I did not measure them today. I will say 1000+fps for a pellet is IMHO too much air turbulence and from MY experience shoots better in the 950 area ! The groups could have been a product of the breech moving forward upon the shot because of lack of spring hammer pressure against the breech ?

Today I had a few shots that came out in the 935fps range and they would hit 1.5+" low and to the left ?? Hummm ..... I noticed after those shots the cocking arm was in the middle. I thought because my hammer spring tension is low at the 5/1 PW setting and the spring tension may not be enough to keep the breech from moving back on firing, the air blast maybe pushing the breech open a bit and letting some air escape. Well I can easily use my thumb and keep the cocking arm against the frame, I did and the velocity stayed in the 975 range, ;- )

Yesterday I would have some variance with the EJH's also, but only 10-15 or so fps, but 15 fps with a 43gr pellet is a some good energy. The EJH's are shot with the PW at 6/1. Very happy with the fact that both pellets are on at 60 yds and all is needed is a PW revolution.

Now I will test the Nielsen 39gr slugs and see where they shoot ... I'll use my 6/1 PW setting for them and the EJH's.

I may test tomorrow or Tuesday depending on work.
