I took the hammer spring adjuster (part C1186) out of my .177 Cyclone. Between it and the hammer spring I found the broken and mangled remains of some kind of shim or washer. This washer is not shown on any of the parts drawings. Should I replace it? What is its purpose?
I've heard of adjusting hammer spring preload with shims, but I don't think there's any point to that with the Cyclone since the adjuster is simply turned in or out to achieve the desired preload. My guess is that the washer was there to protect the brass adjuster from being damaged by the steel spring.
