puncher breaker vs compatto What's the scoop ??

Kicking around the idea of a .25 pcp and was checking out the options

narrowing it down to the kral guns and the compatto both are priced about the same budget for me is $700 max and I already have scope and air source

biggest thing for me is weight I need something 7ish to 7.5 lbs shoot ready tried the syn rod .25 and it was way to heavy

gun will be used for informal target shooting and pesting to around 80 yds

any other guns I should look at ?? I know the p rod is pretty light with the shoulder stock but will is shoot to 80 yds ??

thanks for any info

the guns I'm shooting now are the urban .22 Maximus hunter .22 and my sons Diana stormrider .22 when I get it dialed in

@pcpfan, my first PCP was the Urban, I still have it, my second the Compatto in .22. I love my Compatto it is an incredibly accurate gun. I’ve made kill shots on pigeons out to 94 yards (range finder measured). Today I shot seven, five shot groups at 40 yards using JSB 15.89s. Smallest group was 3/8” largest 1/2”. My smallest group to date was 5 shot into 1/4” @ 50 yards (JSB 18s). I like the Compatto so much that my next PCP will be either a Bantam or Sniper HR.

Typical 50 yd 12 shot group using JSB 18.1's out of my Puncher Breaker .22

It's never given me a single problem in 2 years of use.

If you want a light weight powerhouse for under $500.00 look at the Artemis P15. Incredible value, titanium air tube, and a real sleeper. Soon to be imported under the Diana name from German maker of Diana but available now for lees $$ then they are projecting. I believe Diana id adding a Minnelli stock to up the price. Look it up on AGN and Utube. Also sold under the Spa brand. go here to see it https://www.krale-schietsport.nl/en/guns/air-rifles.html?manufacturer=3593..  They ship very fast normally have the gun in 3 days.

Lots of guys use Krale and they have an excellent reputation. Look up the comments on AGN about Krale. Use the search button.

I cant speak for the Compato but, it looks cool. I did have the Kral for a short time. It was much better than I expected, the shot count was crazy good, accurate enough, light, good features.... the reason its been sold was the trigger. Im sure it could have been worked on and made better but, it was not for me. I found it spongy with a stiff break. As many here on AGN attest, Troy Hammer has a solid rep of making them better. Your price range is tough; I have Hatsan at 44 that is lights out good with the added huma but, its heavy.

Good luck

If you plan to shoot out to 80 yards and expect to actually hit your target with a P-Rod you will need to install a Lothar Walther barrel on it. It will be really low on power compared to your Maximus Hunter so I wouldn't recommend it. I think your Maximus will do a better job at that distance and have the overall advantage over a P-Rod.

If you think the synrod is too heavy then I don't think you will like the Kral Puncher Breaker because I have one with the plastic stock and it feels heavy to me.

It is really accurate at 50 yards and wouldn't doubt it would easily hit out to 80 yards.

I would recommend getting a 22 Sumatra carbine for what you want to do.
