Pulsar scope rail

I agree completely scott it's a shame we have had to use forum space for this. I had been trying to resolve this problem in private with daystate for almost 2 weeks with next to no progress the only time I have mentioned this to anyone other than daystate was last night and its the only time tony has got involved. I would love nothing more than to have this sorted out privately and it would massively impressive if tony himself made a short 40 mile trip up the motorway to come and see a loyal customer that would be great if not just to sorting out having it repaired would be enough I suppose.

I have a Remington Model 7 CDL in 17 Fireball which, from brand new, would not hold zero because the retaining screws on the picatinny rail had a tiny amount of sideways slop, even when fully tightened. So, as I was happy with the rifle in all other aspects, I applied a smear of epoxy between rail and receiver. Five years on, the zero has not moved.

Not what you should have to do with a new gun. But TBH I have not yet bought a gun which I have not had to tinker with.😡

I had been planning to modify the rifle myself. I could similarly find a way around the movement issue. I shoot Field Target in the UK and haven't yet seen a rifle with no modifications. It's just the done thing here.
My experience at the shooting show got to me, as have Mr. Belas response to ozone08 post about his observations and difficulty.
My problem is not in getting the problem resolved, but in having it recognised as a problem. This denial and prevarication seems to prevail with British manufacturers and it's too easy to tire of it.
As to airing this in public, I agree and am embarrassed at being forced to do so. However, when your face to face with the man, rifle in hand, and the prime opportunity to prove, or otherwise the existence of a problem is ignored, what choice are we left with?
I would much rather have been properly engaged with by Daystate (as was promised before the meeting), consulted with, had discussions (over the promised coffee) as to potential solutions and maybe, just maybe, secure some offer help amounting to more than a replacement scope rail.

At least this thing is cooking now. I await a further response from Daystate UK before I finally decide what to do.

hiya scott, im about 60 miles away but I was tolled to replace pretty much everything that dosnt involve the rail witch I have (3 sets of mounts an 2 scopes) finally to ship it to where I purchased it from to have it looked at or as tony belas said last night " if its in good condition send it to the factory and I can have my money back" im just going to take a trip to the shop I got it from and deal with a refund through them an end all this.

Sorry to all you AGN boys and girls im sure none of you want to read all this everybody here are a credit to the sport an a good bunch of people who are always happy to offer help and solutions to anyone who needs it. Im going to stop dragging this situation out on this forum now iv had my say so im going to leave it at that to avoid polluting the forum if anyone has the same issue and wants to know how a solution was found then drop me a PM and ill let you know how I got on.

Thanks all and sorry again good luck to Lochen I hope you get sorted.

No issue with me reading it. As an AirWolf MCT owner I'm defiantly interested in DayState problems. Thankfully mine has been flawless and is about 3 years old. I've never experanced the quality DayState brings to the table so I'm dissapointed yours slipped past the QC Dept. please let us know how this works out. DayState has been getting a bad rap for the look of the Pulsar but I was up at AOA a few weeks ago and the Internet pictures do not do justice. It's a sweet pup and I hope you get it resolved.

So, the flame went out! After some 'e' mail correspondence with Mr Cockayne in which he thinly disguises his sarcasm, and being completely ignored by Mr Belas. I'll withdraw with an apology for taking up your valuable forum space with something so negative. I'm sorry.

As to the Pulsar. If your's ever does develop POI shift (and I genuinely hope no more do) DON'T go direct to Daystate, use your dealers leverage and enjoy being treated like someone important, like say..................a customer.

I thought you all might be interested in seeing the 'problem' Pulsar in it's modified form. By way of a 'gift' to you all for having to read the previous ramblings and moans. It's been a 'journey' and a sometimes frustrating one. Briefly, removing the standard scope rail left no access to the receiver dovetail, as the shroud fixing (the 'oro' gold part) was in the way. So, the shroud was removed along with it's 'gold' mounting collar, which revealed a small diameter, surprisingly short, and very flexible barrel. This required stiffening (It's 'floated' within the shroud via a centering collar and 'O' ring) and this was done with a 1.5mm wall thickness, interference fit, carbon fibre tube. That in turn left around 40mm of 'empty' tube between the end of the barrel and the end of the sleeve if I wanted a flush finish with the end of the air cylinder (shorter would have looked ridiculous, longer would have created a larger void for potentially turbulent air). Any issue of turbulent air from this void was taken care of with a Steyr twin cone stripper.
Next, the new scope rail. Bespoke manufactured for me by AJP Engineering here in England to my design and specification. It fits direct to the receiver block fore end dovetail.
This rifle is now accompanied by a Bushnell 8-32x40 scope, and it shoots one hole groups at 50 yards all day long. It is now of course, a purely target rifle. It makes quite a 'pop!'

Lochen ermmm wow! That's is one of the best pulsars Iv seen so far. I was pondering removing my shroud but didn't want to take my zeroed scope off. How does the shroud come off? I have a spare shroud that came of a wolverine witch I think is the same as the pulsars shroud, the breach end is threaded? Would you be interested in modding my oro? Because I wanty :d

here's my now boring looking pulsar

There were many many easier ways Bluestone, and I was tempted by all of them :-D
At the time I started the project, the scope was immovable anyway because I had had the rail bolt hole countersunk. There was a bee in my bonnet though ;-)
It really wasn't very expensive. I maybe spent £200.00 (under 300 dollars)

Ozone 08. Many thanks for your kind comments. I couldn't possibly take responsibility for someone else's pride and joy but thanks for asking. What I can do though, is offer a 'how I did it' if you'd like? It really is quite simple now one has been done and proved to work. The rail is now commercially available too.

This is how it looks with the shroud off, please forgive the quality of the picture.

"ozone08"Thanks for the exploded view of the rifle I'm not impressed with the spring and baffles in the shroud it reminds me of the rubbish MOD that came with my BSA ultra I think I'm going to have to do something with that. Does the shroud simply unscrew from the gold collar or do you need to remove the rail first?
I've pm'd a breakdown of the entire mod process for my rifle. Along with my number if you want to call me. There seem to be a couple of ways of removing it, I chose the safest, barrel out first! The shroud is very very tightly fitted to the collar (might even be loctite involved)
