I would personally feel gyped! I would leave the tank overnight and probably even for 2 days in this case in question so they can top it off the next mornings and afternoons and monitor it before you pick it up.

Then they will most definitely tell you if its leaking somewhere and maybe even fix it for you.

Did you mean fell to 4275?

If it was his typo and it fell to 4275 instead of 3275 then I would say it would be within reason.

However if it did fall down to 3275 then the dive shop would be out of line to say its normal

which would be ending up with less pressure than what the OP brought it in at.

When I used to work part time in a Dive shop, we'd put the tanks in cool water for the fill, to get "Good" fill, you'd allow the pressure to stabilize and then add more until it was at its rated PSI.

If it went down to 3275, that wasn't from heat, I've never seen a tank loose that much due to cooling.

125 PSI on that size tank from cooling, yup have them do a little "extra" next time to allow for cooling.

Set the tank in the sun a few minutes and you will be over full. One fill and a dead head took a little air. Your lucky on the fills, dive shops around me fill to 3450 but talking a little will get me 3800. you will use about .32 CF per fill(ruff estimate) so you will still get a lot of shooting.

100 psi could be from hot to cold even if you fill your gun to fast the pressure will drop as the air in the bottle/tube cools.

Made a miss statement there should have been .32 PSI drop per fill so a good 30 fills. So 30 shots per fill will get 900, thats from 1500 to 3000 PSI fills. If you really want to show a leak fill the bathtub and hold the tank under water, no bubbles no leak. Tank on with deadhead in and valve on no bubbles no leak.

I bet the OP has never filled his guns by compressor or hand pump or he would have seen exactly the same phenomenon on the the air tube pressure of the gun. Air going into the air tube is hot. After it's cooled down, the pressure will drop a bit. If the gun is filled from a tank, such pressure drop will not be seen because the air is not heated up but cooled slightly ( due to expansion ) instead in the process.
