PSA for FX Maverick owners

There appears to be an interference issue with the bipod rail and the neck of the carbon fiber bottles. I noticed the rail started to dig into the bottle when I removed my bottle to tune the regulators (leaving a ring around the neck)!

The clearance problem appears to be the spacing between the lower/rail and the rifle, when the forward screw (that goes through the trigger guard) is snugged down. You can back it out some and possibly have clearance, but I decided to grind the inner rail sections that were digging into my bottle. Here, I did a test with a Sharpie after having removed some of the anodization:

Reinstalled the bottle and removed it once more, which left me with this last spot to grind down:

Not sure what FX is going to do to remedy this one

Mine has the same problem. Lots of clearance on the right side, interference on the left side.

The BAD thing...FX gave it a very good attempt to cover it up..! You can see scratches in the neck of the bottle, but..."someone..." put some sort of coating on the surface of the carbon fiber, so the scratches aren't white in color. BUT the actual indent from the scarring is definitely there.

Bastards. I hate a sneek. Don't do it correctly the first time, screw your customers any time that you can.

Mike

P.s. - mtn. - Thanks for the heads up

That sux is right.

Loose tolerances on both parts leads to... At least it is only a superficial wound and not a mortal one. Good that it is so easily taken care of as well. Still it should not be. Factory stock bottle? Was the weight of the gun sitting on the bipod so it flexed and caused this?

Nope, it doesn't need to be on a bipod to cause interference. Like @MikeVV said - it's all on the left side of the rail. I've been too busy to burn time taking measurements, but it was important to me to let folks know to watch out for this potential issue.

Ouch! The alignment on my is good but not perfect! The tolerance is tight and the inside of the picatinny rail is sharp. I have un-threaded my tank countless times over a few days of experimenting and tuning. So far, lucky I haven't scratch the tank, definitely going to more careful until this arrives.

Nothing there.

I would be furious if it were me.

For that alone, I would demand a full refund and not take any replacement.

Not a big fan of FX, but I was close to buying one when their Gen 1 Wildcat in laminate went on sale (AOA) back in 2018.

The first one that was shown to me had a tube vent hole that was like a comma and was drilled post coating by maybe an assembler with nerve disease.

They took out another one and it was the same thing.

There were also anodizing imperfections ((white showing) here and there.

Physical anomalies do not bother most buyers but we are talking hundreds of $ to over a grand, so it does bother me 😁

Yes, OD sir, I was there at that time with my family 😁

Saw a Caucasian guy walk out with one as I went in.

There were about 3 left but I did not look at the 3rd one anymore because they were busy.

The ones on sale (and remaining) were the .177 caliber.
