Proposed Bill C-21 To Ban Airguns in Canada

Reason dictates there should be some compromise. It’s seems the most vocal segment of the pro gun camp is unwilling to even consider that. And I understand the logic of give an inch and they will take a yard. BUT there is extreme pressure being placed on the law makers to find solutions and if the pro gun camp refused any negations my fear is that tactic will lead to an even slippery slope in the direction we don’t want to go. I don’t think the NRA is doing us much good . In fact it seems the NRA has deteriorated into a rather corrupt entity in its own right.

Have you ever asked why, when it comes to our collective civil liberties, "compromise" always involves giving up some, or all of the freedom to make a choice for yourself? All for the briefly lived, false promise of increased safety.

Exactly. Just ask our Native North American brothers and sisters about "compromise".

Also. I know there will be replies from UK posters saying we are not disarmed. Listen. A 12 ft lb, or 6 lb pistol is not a firearm. I'm sorry. It's not. If that's all you can have, you are disarmed by your tyrannical government. There's a reason they set those parameters.

Well maybe you are right about that my friend, but at least its something. You are not going to be allowed Pee shooters at this rate.

The same thing is coming here my friend eventually, IF we let them? I say we don't let them. Firearms community and air gun community must stick together.

The big question is do you want to align yourself with a community that is already jacked up from within and also has a big bullseye on its back. It might be damned if you do and damned if you don’t. The longer we can stay little Ricky with his BB gun the better. Blowhards wanting to boast about the capabilities of the modern airgun aren’t doing us any favors. And yes, sadly that comes from within from guys chasing a dime.

If everybody during the Revolution had a scaredy cat attitude like you. We would still be bowing to a king right now.

The Canadian airgun ban is aimed at replicas, there was a case from 2017 where some organized criminals set up a shop to manufacture untraceable ghost guns using some parts from replica airguns. They built hundreds of them and some even went to the US. The Canadian police are also worried about accidentally shooting someone by mistaking a replica as a real firearm.

Since airguns are not protected under the 2nd Amendment, it would be much easier to ban them than real center fire rifles and handguns.

The 2nd Amendment does not define the nature of the "Arms" is seeks to protect. At it's inception a Musket was considered an assault weapon. And owning your own cannon would not be out of the question.

"The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"

Not saying that it would protect us anymore than it has the firearms community. If the US gun grabbers get HR 127 passed in it's current iteration God help us.

When they use words like "similar" it doesn't have to be a replica is my understanding. Using vague terms like similar can sure get many airguns marked as prohibited. Depends who's making that call, reasonable persons understanding of firearms or Bill Blair.

You say the Canadian airgun ban is aimed at replicas, yet Canada already has restrictions on ALL types of airguns. I can only wonder what types of airguns they will want to ban next.

You mention specific cases where replicas were used in crimes and this is how they justify the ban. So what is going to happen when they start talking about cases where someone used a traditional styled single shot break barrel to shoot out windows?
