Prod O-Ring Question

I just removed the shroud cap on my recently acquired Prod to install my new TKO moderator and found there is no O-ring in place. I have a complete set of O-rings on order and they will arrive Friday. My question is how does not having this O-ring in place effect accuracy etc. Is there any harm in shooting the Prod without the O-ring......I hope not as I have been shooting it !!!

The baffles will rattle around. You could slip down to the hardware store and find an o-ring that fits (might have to stack two thin ones) or remove the baffles for now. I don't think you could of hurt anything shooting it. The baffles have a pretty tight tolerance inside the shroud on mine, I don't think it would ever clip a pellet.

Thanks GrimJay. Since I have never seen how they fit...they just have to be the same diameter as the id of the shroud.....correct ?

I'm glad to help. To quiet mine down I enlarged the holes in the plastic piece that screws on to the end of the barrel as well as venting the shroud. You can see the holes in the picture. Nice and quiet without an LDC. I put a cz 75 grip sleeve on it and I really like it, best $12 I've spent on it.

I’m wondering if you all with these Prods with baffles have an older version? The PRod I bought new from Crosman last August does not have one baffle in it. Just the air stripper, o ring, and muzzle screw on end cap.

I put a cz 75 grip sleeve on it and I really like it, best $12 I've spent on it.

Those grips make it feel much better, and use them on my AR prod/1720T. After some time, the rubber stretches and the oils from your hand get under the grip, and it will start twisting. I ruff up the plastic grips with coarse sandpaper and use a few dabs of rubber adhesive. I also epoxy filled the plastic grips to prevent flex/creep.

First I need to apologize and clarify. I purchased mine in 2012 and it didn't have baffles just an o-ring and end cap. On my p-rod I put an after market shroud and a longer air tube (about 4" longer, 30% more air) that I got from Jim Gaska, the shroud came with four baffles. I have an adapter for an LDC on it but it's quiet enough without it. Sorry for any confusion.

Great tip on the grip sleeve and using epoxy. A lot of room for improvement in the grip department. I used 3m double sided trim tape on the grip frame to keep the grips from moving around, works great.
