problems with Impacts!

I ordered my Impact 22 with the 700mm barrel and a slug liner on May 30, 2019 from Utah Airguns and It was shipped on July 24, 2019. FedEx delivered it on the 29th. This was a over a month earlier than they expected to receive the rifle from FX. Keep in mind that I waited 9 month for my Umarex Gauntlet as well as many other people that ordered them when they first came out.

The only problem I had with my Impact is the hammer spring adjusting screw does not have any type of thread locking and was backing out during firing. This causes the velocity to drop from shot to shot. To correct this problem I removed the screw and wrapped it with teflon tape and reinstalled it to prevent the screw from backing out and still allow it to be adjusted as needed. They should use an adjusting screw with a nylon patch on it to eliminate this problem.

I agree 100%. I would love an impact because I like to tinker with things and having so many adjustments on tap would be great. But yeah, the odds of getting a bad one seems to far outweigh getting a working impact. Yep, for $2000 that thing better be built to last. I know some have their sorry excuse in defending FX by saying the Impact is the F1 of airguns. What a joke. I think that they are way over hyped and there are several other airguns out there that make airguns just as accurate with far less headache. In the end its all about how they market them with popular airgunners.

MOD EDIT: Removed derogatory comments. Constructive comments are always more encouraging than insults.

Elbowgrease,

I don't think anyone knows the odds of getting a bad FX Impact. I don't think we know how many they have sold or how many have had problems that are defects with the rifle. There a people posting on here that state they have three Impacts so they have one to shoot while the others are being repaired. If the rifle is so bad why do they have three of them. Also if they are so bad how do they win so many competitions and dominate the top 20 positions.

I used to shoot skeet a lot (2 to 5 times a week) and I almost never had a week go by that someone did not have a shotgun break or malfunction because of a mechanical failure. These failures occurred in shotguns that cost $300 to guns costing $50000. Yes $50k. I did not own them but I have shot guns costing over $100k. Most of the time the broken part was inexpensive but it may take a couple of weeks to get the part.

Remington 1100 shotguns would fail regularly because of a blown o-ring which only cost about $0.50 but if you don't have a spare the gun does not work. I think this would be about the same a the c3 bumper in the Impact. Both are parts that normally wear with use and require replacement when they fail.

We would have skeet tournaments on the weekends 3 or 4 times a year with 35 to 75 shooters and most (75%) were shooting shotguns costing over $7k and we never had a tournament that at least one gun broke and the shooter had to get his backup shotgun or borrow one to finish the tournament.

Our club was a skeet and trap club and about 65 percent of our members were shooting shotguns that started at about $12k for the basic gun and when up to over $30k with fancy engravings or extra barrels. Most of these members would send their gun back to the factory service center every one to two years to be serviced and they almost always had to pay for replacement parts to replace worn or broken parts in the gun.

Hi guys, my take on the fxlmpact is if you shoot a lot like l do you have to work on the gun your self! The hardest part about this for me is that I got my gun in the first week of July, and then August first it stopped working. Now I’m still waiting for parts that are out of stock and the ETA is a few more weeks? During all this time the gun is completely disassembled on my now angry wife’s breakfast table, I had told her that would only be one week to ten days. So now to sum this up I have only had used it less than two months and now it seems that by the time I get the new parts I will only have been able to use it fifty percent of the time I have owned it! I only hope that there are less issues with this gun when I get it up and working. If you know of any dealerships that have the fxlmpact mk2 C1&C4 parts in stock let me know? Thanks again guys you all have been helpful in the past.

This doesn't.

Pleas allow me to clear up some of the confusion here as to what a "Formula One" Air Gun really looks like... all the ones pictured below actually fit that description! I don't believe you will have fix anything on these F1 rifles the day you open the box!

Sure, but FORMULA 1 WINNERS ON 75+ YARDS I MEANT!
;)

The point is, the Impact is a complex rifle and need proper maintenance (and constant)

Daystate RW for me is not F1, is more like a Ferrari! Ferrari do not need that much maintenance, the others are in another league like comparing bikes with car (sure for 25m up to 50m are good) .

And please, I am not defending anything jajaja funny! is just my opinion, I think you/we can find plenty of brads to choose! Hype or not, we need proof and real test (at least that is important to me) ... and so far on paper and stats on oficial events.. FX IMPACT on 75+ yards are killing it. I really want to see other brands on top spots too! EBR will be different probably. (hope so ;)

I understand the frustration, been there too!

i just SOLD my "MK2", came to me with damaged C3, one gauge leaking and the other one reading almost 20bar above the real pressure, valve housing with scratches and it doesnt seal, on each shot it wastes air, regulator creeping 10bar... i paid 2100 usd for a nothing..... very disappointed... i dont know how they are able to invest in advertising if what they send to theis customers are rifles with VERY POOR QUALITY CONTROLS!!! I read this forum daily, and the most common topic title is an FX owner in trouble!!!

Photographs of my 3 FX Impacts. My favorite airgun -- #1 on my list.

However, they do have more issues requiring repair than my other 14 12 PCPs.

Its not about rifle performance, the problem is what and how yo get a “NEW” 2000+ rifle!!! Has to change regulator for huma (110usd), 2 wika gauges (110usd), C3 bumper, and i am on the waiting list for a new valve housing..... Yes i know it is an accurate gun, but at what price????? You buy a 2000 usd gun to disassembly it the same day???? Did all fx customers worldwide know how to fix impacts problems???? If they are top sellers, please improve that quality control department!!!

Another who seems to like them well enough to own more than one. Glad you enjoy them. Complexity will probably almost always lead to more issues. Sorry for those who have had issues that they cannot correct. I'd certainly like to know what percentage of total owners hold that view. "Squeeky wheels"?

The impacts are already too ugly for words but then to add that ungainly can on the rear where the air gauge used to be? I hope they come out with the MK3 model that has all the necessary power upgrades and improvements on it from the factory, and something else I'm really hoping for is that they will offer it with the option of a more elegant looking 480cc air tube instead of that ugly milk bottle hanging on the front.

Don't own one-yet. I have considered getting one for some time now (along with a Daystate Pulsar and now an Evanix Max-Air) but haven't purchased one. I've watched all the disassembly and modification videos several times due to the complexity of the rifle. I tinker with pretty much everything I own so working on a rifle doesn't bother me but I can understand the frustration of those who got one expecting perfection due to the price. Few things seem to turn out perfect these days but issues with the Impact do seem to possibly be somewhat higher than average, whatever "average" is. Or maybe the price only makes it seem higher. The appearance is to me a non-issue. Much like an AR centerfire platform-different seems to sum it up more so than generically "ugly" and some will have different views than others.

The adjustability of the Impact, along with its performance record, always impresses me and keeps my interest. Along with that adjustability would probably come more problems. I would like to think that I could accept that ahead of time because I've done my homework. But I can understand frustration.
