Problem with brand new Benjamin Armada .25 cal

My father and I were going to shoot our brand new Benjamin Armada 25 cal. The bolt is stuck in an open position and only has about 1-2 inches of movement.

I tried bumping it forward with the palm of my hand and a small amount of air discharged, but the bolt didn’t go any further forward.

We haven’t even charged the gun with air yet and it’s a little frustrating having a problem like this. I know there’s a lot of wisdom in this community so I’m hoping someone will be able to shed some light for us. Thanks as always,

Chris

I didn’t take any, but we got it fixed. So please let me pass this info for informational purposes.

This all stemmed from a different initial problem. The magazine was stuck in the gap where it seats in the rifle. We began loosening some of the screws around that area in an effort to pull the barrel away from the magazine to get it out. I’ll say right now that this was not the right thing to do. We should have researched more and been more patient. Although we were successful in getting the magazine out, we inadvertently got the screw that connects to the bottom of the bolt, which pulls the charging mechanism back, on the wrong side of said charging mechanism.

We were able to fix it by completely removing the barrel and re-seating the barrel in place with the bolt in a closed position.

After getting everything back together and double checking to see if the magazine was going to slide in and out, we noticed that the bolt does not open far enough to allow the magazine to slide in. It sticks out about 1 or 2 mm which is enough to effect the magazine.

It doesn’t do it every time as i could get the bolt to fully open once or twice.

I’ll update this issue after we get a couple hundred rounds through it and break in the spring.

I’ll try to get some photos of these areas to better illustrate what happened.

My .25 Armada does the same thing. I can't install the magazine unless I forcefully pull and hold the bolt back that last 1mm that it sticks out. Once I do that and get the mag put in place, it all works just fine. It's awkward but I just deal with it. It does seem to be getting a bit easier to cock the more I shoot, but it still sticks out that 1mm or so.

Spysir, What years did Crosman make the green mountain barrel rifles? Gen 1 or Gen 2? Are their any markings to distinguish the two?

I have a supposed .25 cal. Green Mountain barrel (what I was told) Marauder that I converted to .30 cal. If it is really a GM barrel I should put it in my new .25 cal Armada. I would like to know the difference. I know you can adjust how much barrel sticks out the breech with the set screws but it can’t be too much or the magazine would not fit. You could tell the difference with the naked eye of the bolt probe length difference. Both are new .25 cal bolts with the flared (not round like gen 1) knobs.
