Preordered Gauntlet

Got mine from Pyramyd Air a few days ago. It is a diamond in the rough and here is why.

First, the trigger sux as set up from the factory lawyers. I got in there and polished all contact surfaces, then went on to adjustments. There are three trigger adjustments. One for pull weight, one for trigger overtravel and one for sear contact. They somewhat interact and when all was said and done, I had the sear contact area right at the point of let off. I also eliminated all take up so the trigger was right there at the break point once the gun is cocked. I got it almost as good as the triggers on my high end spring guns. There is plenty of thick molly like lubrication in the trigger but with the roughness of the mating parts, even the molly doesn't stop the gravel. Polishing parts is your friend but keep in mind, Umerex frowns on anyone playing inside their guns.

I called them for a parts manual, none comes with the gun. Was told by customer service that they don't even have them yet and to call back in a few weeks.

Clean the barrel, it comes through very dirty with factory goop in it. I also ran bore paste through it. This stuff is mildly abrasive and was applied to take off any high spots in the barrel rifling.

The front stock that covers the air tank has to have its tabs at the ends that go into the main stock, squeezed inwardly in order for it to snap in place. It mentions it t in the manual but who the hell reads that.

My gun hated the H&N FFT' 8.65 grain pellets so I defaulted to JSB Exacts at 8.44 grain. Things got a lot better and the gun started shooting one hole groups at 40 yards. I got 890,891,890,891 with four shots on the chrony.

It is not overly loud due to heavy baffling in the barrel shroud;

Make sure all the screws and allen screws are tight..

This whole situation has been poorly handled by Umarex first and then by the major airgun vendors with allowing preorders for a product that really had no firm release date. Umarex really screwed up sending out rifles to the various writers/reviewers when Umarex really should have know the problems that could arise for a new product. Many people got their hopes up and preordered gun just to keep getting the release date moved back.
To make matters worst, Umarex then proceeded to keep moving the release date out each time the previous release date came up.
Umarex nor the major airgun vendors did not try to keep the people that preordered guns up to date as to the progress that Umarex was making in order to get the guns released.
Then, SG starts releasing guns before anybody that preordered from the major airgun vendors were getting their guns. The airgun vendors should not have even allowed preordering of the guns until Umarex could really been able to release the gun.
I, like a lot of others preordered and have tried to be patient, but the situation really does try one's patience. I will not bother to place a preorder again. Yes, I know I could have cancelled my preorder, but I did choose not to do so. It even appears that some buyers that did not preorder guns early are already receiving guns from SG.

Come now don't be scerr'd. FT is a ton of fun. Guys like me may take thing to far but I love he sport ant tend towards competitiveness. In all honesty maybe %5 of us try to compete. The rest are there for fun only and don't much care about thier score but the experience. Either way good luck with new gun they seem like a good deal.
