Practicing for my next match 120 shots

"Ben10"That's awesome Mike!

which gun and what setup were you using??

Im going to throw a wild guess at the RAW .22?? But what scope, pellets, speed etc?
Hey Ben
Your wild guess is right on the money
I was using my RAW HM1000X in .22 cal with a Hawke Sidewinder 8-32x56...JSB Jumbo Heavies 18.1 g straight from the tin 5.53 head diameter...shooting at 940 fps. The sand bags are the Caldwell Deadshot shooting bag combo. Had to refill once during the practice.

Thanks for answering Mike.

do you turn the scope magnification down for the 13m range to mimic the view you have through the scope at 50??

Manabe – I’m impressed with your shooting skills. I have downloaded that target from another thread and you have encouraged me to see how well I can get the HW100 to compare to your target. I don’t think I have your abilities – but I’m willing to try.

Keep Shooting Straight – Jay

Edit: Tried to elimiate formating - can't get rid of it.

"Ben10"Personally I prefer higher magnification anyway. It would be interesting to see if your results change with the magnification as well as probably good practice for you

Thanks
I like the higher magnification as well, but like you said...it's good practice
Well you asked for it.... I used a 12x magnification to shoot the target sheet this time...very similar results, though I have to admit...This target looks worse.

"Rocky_in_TX" I must have operator error issues, mine only printed out 10 columns and 9 rows, and your pic has 12 columns and 10 rows. I like my odds of getting more center shots (rings are bigger!) but I don't think that would be fair of me to do. lol. Back to the printing drawing board....thanks.

Try the printer setting Fit to Page That might solve the problem

Looks great as usual Mike. Don't forget to save those for future wrapping paper now ;-)
Our match got canceled due to rain. Wish I had an indoor range. I'll have to try this outside when weather permits.
It was so windy today I would aim at the 3/8" circle target I was using and the pellet would hit the 3/8" circle to the right of it.
Then I noticed the pellets would shoot high when the wind was blowing directly at me.

Sorry to hear that the THAGC Match is canceled. I know how much you were looking forward to getting in that prone position throughout the FT Match...Lol
I've shot in those kind of windy conditions...You'd hold over a full target, and hopefully, you've read the wind right, and the pellet drifts and hits the adjacent target. Or the wind decides to stop at the moment you pull the trigger, and now you've just hit your crosshairs way off the mark!
Isn't strange how the wind can push a pellet up?!? I never get used to that.

HEY MIKE--Do me a favor, send me your tournament itinerary for the year, I will go ahead and send in my entry fee and not even bother to show up. At least it will save me the gas money. Your kicking some major target booty dude. Great job! I feel sorry for the rest of the folks that show up....I guess someone needs to compete for second, third and fourth place. ha. just having some fun!

Hey Rocky
Was planning on going to the Extreme Benchrest put on by AoA, but I didn't realize that they had changed the dates from last year. I planned for the wrong days off...so I'm pretty sure I won't be able to make that event. The only other tournament I was planning on going to was the California Regional's....but the same thing happen again. They changed the dates, and now I won't be able to get the days off. I will just be attending my club matches that hold a monthly brenchrest competition. The guys I shot with are really tough to beat...this last tournament I was in...I was only 1 point behind, but finished in third place. Come to think of it, Those guys have always beat me..But I'm getting better...LOL

"Ben10"Still looks like a perfect score to me mike, did you find it much different in terms of how it felt to shoot in lower mag?
Thank you Ben,
I feel that when I shoot at a lower magnification, I am giving up precision. I like seeing where my pellet made impact, but with a lower magnification, I don't get to see all the details clearly

Mike
you are doing exceptionally well with that front bag, but i think a good front rest will help you a lot
do you think the 22 is a plus(+) in the Temecula winds ?
i was hoping to meet you at the regionals

Hey Dick
Sorry we won't get to compete together at the regionals...I was really looking forward to that Match.

i definitely feel that a 22 is a plus....you don't have to holdover as much...Lol But seriously, the winds tend to swirl in the canyon where we shoot, and I prefer to have the added pellet weight. It's definitely a plus when we shoot at 50 yards...makes a huge difference.
I agree that a good front rest would be beneficial and a I am looking into it.
Thanks
Mike
