Practice in The Wind

The best shooting in the wind practice for me was shooting prairie dogs. I have gone about a half dozens times and when you shoot 300 to 500 rounds a day you get pretty good at shooting in the wind. The best situation was to have a steady wind from the side that would maintain its speed. Some people would think a wind at your back would be good but if it switched a little one direction or the other you would be hitting left or right. Usually we shoot from our benches but at times I would take my small caliber 17 Ackley Hornet out and shoot from the sitting position. It launches a 20 grain V-Max at 3700 fps. Here is a video of some of the close up action. Note the way the dust flies to get an idea of the wind speed. Bill
