I haven’t been to this particular dairy since they closed up operations (7 months ago). They still keep a few personal cows, so there are still some rats there. Nowhere near the previous numbers, but enough to make a visit worthwhile. Showed up with home baked cookies for the owner and my Bantam Sniper for the pesties. Ran into the same problem with rats as before. Too close to engage with rifle. So headed to the dairy closer to my home, but the pigeons were on the wires 150 yards away and not having it. I shot one lone rat at 40 yards which I couldn’t recover. It fell into the waste collection, I hate not being able to retrieve the carcasses. So I went home grabbed my pp700sa and went back to the first dairy for some close range work. I shot five rats and was only able to retrieve these two. All shots sub 12 yards, the closest was under 5 yards! Also shot 3 starlings incidentally to the ratting. That’s my size 10 boot for reference next to the rat.
