BSA lone star .22 caliber. Best group I’ve ever shot from an airgun!

No pictures but about 3 years ago in absolutely still calm conditions my sub 12fpe .177 (780fps) Theoben mfr put 5 consecutive hits onto a 15mm spinner while my sub12fpe .20 (600fps) mfr did 12 consecutive hits onto a 40mm spinner at 100M. (109yards)

trying to do long distance paper groups with low power guns is almost impossible as the slightest puff of wind will push the pellets completely off the paper, counting consecutive hits onto small spinners is a better indicator of the guns true potential.

Last spring, on a blustery day, my 12 year old grandson did 5 consecutive hits onto a 40mm spinner with my .22 mfr (575fps) at 100 yards, this requires about 3ft of hold over. He shoots the .22 better than me that’s for sure!

These are typical of the groups my sub12fpe .177 mfr is capable of at 45yards out doors.

the top, on the 6 is an 8shot single loaded group (approx 5mm CtC)

the centre is an entire 17 shot magazine (approx 6.5mm CtC)

and the group below is a .177 pushed into the hole of 4 shots single loaded. (CtC to small to measure)

Keith, how come you never run that rig at matches? Why? Because people like me would steal it! That's one fine looking rifle.

Chas

Hey Chas,

Merry Christmas brother....I've shot the Blue Beast at a few matches when I shot hunter field target and shot well with it. I haven't shot it at a match shooting open division but I'm sure it would be a very capable rifle. I got my Thomas last February and basically shot it when I shot open division. I will have to shoot a open match with it this year to see how it does. I will say it is one of the nicest rifles I have ever owned...it's fantastic!

My best group at 100 yards with my gen2 Impact .25 700mm slug liner and NSA slugs. Variable wind in all directions my guess 3-7mph. I think these were actually the 36 dimple nosed slugs although others on this target were the 33.5 HP and sub MOA also. Three shots nearly through the same hole. 👍 Another three that were sub MOA right after and more of the same on the target as well. Tried a five shot group with the 33.5 HP top left but the wind got a couple of them. Top right and bottom left were used while tuning. Low one in yellow was a sighter as I was aiming at the center target when I shot the lower right groups and wanted to be a little closer to on target.

Was shooting the .30 Vulcan2 Tactic today and decided to shoot some groups (true 5 shot groups) at 111 yards. Not much wind, just a light breeze. This is my best 5 shot group with 44.75 Hatsan Vortex pellets at 860 FPS. FYI, a quarter is 0.955 inches diameter, and it fits the group C2C exactly. MOA at 111 yards is approx. 1.15 inches. I almost stopped after the first 3 shots, since the “group” would have been under 1/2 inch. ;)

Finally got to spend a brief bit of time shooting yesterday. Moved a scope, so used that time to optically re-center the scope first, then zeroed it in. Had time to shoot a couple 50 yard groups, then three 100 yard groups. Haven't shot 100 yards since the Pyramyd Air Cup last August. Finally settled down by the third 5-shot group. Still need to fine-tune for harmonics for best accuracy, but it's not bad right here, if I do my part right.

Edit: Well, I made it to January 2nd before I listed the year in a date as still being 2019 instead of 2020...

The below 4-shot group was pretty nice. There's always one...
