the edgun lelya and uragan compact!!! Been shooting at soda cans accurately out to 100- 134yards

No matter what you pick they all manage really well with slugs as long as you match ur projectile with your barrel size, twist and possible choke but some need more work than others. If you just want to shoot and leave all stupid "tuning" stuff behind get edgun they are rock solid platforms and I know ppl who have shot really good groups even with H&N grizzlys. Just list all what you want out from it bullpup or rifle, max lenght, weight, regulated or not, solid bush gun or high maintanance show piece, do you cast or limited to slugs on stores, power level, action type etc etc list goes on and on.. In the end you are always the only one who knows what you want and need. But if I would just want to shoot and durable gun I would personally get R5 and if I would want back bag gun that shoots like champ I would get Leshiy.

gunner I'm watching - you will have to be a good tuner or buy one set up from a dealer I wish you best of luck . Do a lot of research & talk to dealers I'm still working on it . My best pellet gun out of 5 pcp's is a cricket carbine in 22 cal. at 85 yds 1" groups all day long but that's with pellets . Going to start slugs & probably need a new gun too . I've heard alot about the Uragan that Dairyboy suggested & The Taipans are suppose to do it . The gammo I'll leave that one alone . Do you prefer a rifle or bullpup ? What cal do you want ? Best of luck your on a journey .

Just from personal experience, my friends taipan compact .22 loves nielsen slugs, gets them into the high 700's. I've a Urugan- 30 cal, full size, and I shoot nielsen's 49 grainers almost exclusively. 100 yards @ ground squirrels is v. consistent. Daughter took a turkey at 105 yards after practicing at a similar distance moments before. 840 fps, box stock besides Charlie Frears bore pasting before delivery.

But I've also used pellets in the 30 Cal, did a through and through DRT on a full size coyote w a pellet. Slugs can keep going after shooting- pellets just arc into the ground, giving a better/safer opportunity when a backstop isn't available. I have a mag of each when slogging through the field.

There is a daystate huntsman vid review w pellets posted near this listing- that rifle looks v interesting as well.

With the bullpup vs rifle thing it does not really mater to me the style its more of the performance thing with me and backstops are usually not to much of a concern with where I hunt. Also the reason I am concerned with slugs is the way they expand which allows for better performance and knock down power. The hades pellets do that in a great way but dump too much energy before they reach the target at long ranges.

I've built several flat shooting small bore (22 / 25 / 30 caliber) PCPs for slugs. If you're serious about accuracy, start with identifying the barrel that will work for your caliber and overall requirements. Slugs are not nearly as forgiving as pellets IMO, and if you wind up with a bad barrel that you can't replace, game over.

gunner go to the search function ( top right of page ) then log in , when search shows up type in (slugs)- mark (check) three boxes - pcp's , general discussion , & pellets projectiles, slugs & ammo, then hit enter . you can find a lot of info from all of are past discussions about slugs & different guns people have tried them in - hope you can find this more helpful , Best of luck & welcome to the forum Darell P.S. most people say you need a unchoked barrel for slugs but some choked barrels do work, people also like (LW)&(CZ) barrels also theres so many different variables for slugs - speed-diameter- weight to name a few but I'm not that guy to advise about it but use the search feature .

Thank you for the info I'll go do that

A bunch of my airguns shoot the lighter, smaller diameter NSA slugs as well as they do pellets. The power out the barrel is a little lower because of the added friction of the pellet bearing surface but the slugs quickly make up for that down range because they bleed off much less velocity.

The biggest issue I run into is magazine related. Due to the long unsupported noses of slugs they have a tendency to tip in looser high capacity magazines like the FX side loader. They tip enough that the slugs hit the breech and jam instead of loading. Even if they load there is a greater chance they will end up being chambered with a slight cant which will negatively effect stability and therefore accuracy. In such magazines I have to go to longer slugs with more bearing surface in order for them to load straight. Magazines that use o-ring friction to hold the slugs in individual chambers don’t have this issue. For example, the Taipan Veteran will load pretty much any slug or pellet reliably as long as it isn’t longer than the magazine.

A good way to check a gun to see if the mag is causing an accuracy loss is to single load. This is true, of course, with both slugs and pellets. Many times pellet finickiness is magazine related instead of barrel related.

I’m working on a magazine design for the FX now, to address the issue.
