Polymag Shorts our of a Benjamin Marauder

After going over Airgun Depots head to head articles, something caught my attention that I couldn’t let go without testing myself. Their Marauder head to heads show absolutely phenomenal 50 yard groups with .22 cal Polymag shorts. I bought a tin and here are my results with my Marauder.

Have you tried different magazines or even single loading them?

I notice my Marauders in general shoot more accurately when set at lower power

as compared to high power tuning including a fully done WAR through and through

and when I backed the power down it shot even more accurately so I just left it there.

Mid to upper 700s is plenty of power up to 50 yards and the added precision was

worth it for me. Other brands of PCPs have also benefitted by backing down the

power to improve accuracy as well based on my trial and error with the exception

of bumping up 10 meter guns only up to a certain power level shot fine and past

a certain power level proved detrimental to the overall accuracy.

Noticed similar results with the Discoverys when the power is backed down turned

out to shoot more accurately as well. I prefer accuracy over power but thats just me...

You may look into a Gen1 25 Marauder valve and TP to ease the strain which could

possibly help things if you really need the power. Rifle won't seem to be as angry that way.

STRANGER THINGS...

Before spending any more money on more barrels, I would suggest you back the power down and try different magazines and also single load them to eliminate the magazine variable. Then if you still have less than stellar results what I would would be to slug and polish the barrel and open up and taper the leade and recrown the barrel first. You could be amazed as to how much better they can become with a little work. I wouldn't do anything to the one that prefers Crosman ammo because you are really lucky to have a barrel that likes cheap ammo IMHO.

I would also remove the lawyer spring but thats just me...
