Tuning Polishing FX AMP reg parts.

Regarding the finish on the Bellevilles, there is no need to polish their entire faces. You just want to remove the burr on the tearout side, both on the OD and the ID. The OD is usually easy enough to dress by rubbing the concave side against fine sandpaper. Use a good flat backing for the sandpaper like a piece of glass or granite. When a small neatly polished ring appears on the outside perimeter, you’re done with that part. Then for the ID, a conical rubberized abrasive bit (Cratex point or generic alternative) makes quick work of it. Just getting rid of any burr that would otherwise risk cutting into the regulator piston.

If the Bellevilles for some reason have very heavy burrs, you might want to instead start with a set of small diamond files to break the edge and then finish up with the steps above. Pretty unusual to find any that are that bad off in my experience but it can happen.

Very nice work! What would you say the main deficiencies were?

I remember being surprised to learn they stuck with a plastic piston in the Amp. Even the $20 paintball regs on Aliexpress use a proper brass piston, and actually work pretty well if you replace the valve seat with a better material like Delrin, PET-P, or PEEK. 

Did they leave the shaft undersized as well? There was some concern it allowed the Belleville stack to shift enough to alter the spring rate and therefore the setpoint. I don’t know if that was ever confirmed though.

nervoustring, I have seen several places you commented about porting and belleville washers polishing, based on your experience if the FX reg washers shall be polished what about Huma? Do they polish them as well or they're selection of washers just plain different quality punch press? I do believe not many places (in not many countries) is economical running punch presses / manufacturing for airguns only.
 
Well, given Huma's core competence is making regulators, they tend to have better quality control. At the same time, any commodity part like Belleville washers is subject to tooling wear and other variables that will produce some degree of variability over time. And if they have multiple vendors for them, that's another source of variability that may very well cause one person't experience to differ from another's. So I'm not inclined to make any blanket statements. At the very least, I recommend checking them for any perceptible burr on the tearout side and, if present, remove it. However my take on it is, by the time I've gone through the trouble of opening it up, I'm going to dress all the parts. It doesn't take long to do, and leaving it undone causes swirling doubts if the gun's consistency doesn't seem quite as good as it should be.

1. There is thread play.
2.The correct dimensions are not observed at the location of the O-rings.
3 the sealing material to the compartment for the regulator is not suitable.
4 there is practically no sealing cone.
