poking fun about airgunning?

What about classic shotgunsadicted?
I chased Merkels all over the world for many years, and I didn't stop until I had 5 uniq Merkels, all handmade in the period when they really know the craftmanship. Two of these, from the early seventies and eighties are never fired, and will never be as long as I own them. For these two alone I paid the price which would give me more than 15 wolverines today.
But this is an investment you will say. No it is not for me. The feel of the balance, the finish, the looks, the gravings, the woodwork.......
- and that is what we talk about when it comes to airguns too, isn't it guys..........
Ok, the performance comes first, but the rest - when the airgun is talking to you - yes we are all adicted, and that is why I love this forum.

I live in Eaton Rapids so the drive isn't to far from your range. I just signed up for the emails. Are you guys going to be running another clinic anytime soon. I am looking at getting my first PCP rifle and want something I can varmint hunt with and still have decent accuracy for targets also. I have a budget of $1500 for the the rifle and and a good scope. I have watched pretty much all of Ted's videos and thought I was going with the Maurader.25 cal then I saw the Daystate Regal XL....and then I saw....etc....I keep going in a circle lol.

Oh and I guess I should post something in the intro area...I have been lurking around here long enough.

Yes, this Saturday June 13 is an Open Range/Clinic.

I'll be out there with my .25 Condor. It's a great gun, but I'd be unlikely to recommend one. This is because the initial appeal of swapping barels etc I found to be of no value (for myself), and I sunk a lot of $ into it to get it shooting so well. If I had to do it over again, I would buy a Cricket. I won't be able to let you shoot my .22 Cricket... It's en rout to "The Cricket Whisperer" aka Eatnest Rowe.

Your budget will allow for a great rifle. My first PCP was a used .177 Maurauder for $300. All our shoots have a "trading post" if anyone is looking to sell. It's great as a buyer to shoot before you buy, and great for sellers to not have to pack and ship. That being said.... Don't hold your breath hoping for a .25

I used to be one of those who did not understand to costs invovled in good pellet guns. Growing up shooting red riders, 760's, 1322, 392's and 2040's.....who needed to spend a lot of money?? Then I realized it is actually a cheap hobby to do really well. How so?? If you look at other addictions.....I mean hobbies.....like golf, you spend 500-1500 on clubs, 100 on a bag, 75 on shoes, balls, lessons, clothes ect. Not to mention the cost per round. Even with that investment, you have no chance of playing really, really well. Good pellet guns are different, after your initial out lay, the costs are cheap. 5 bucks to fill up my CF tank?? Unheard of. 15 bucks for 500 pellets?? With a really good gun, you can shoot really well. They also keep thier value. A top of the line set of golf clubs from a few years ago is almost worthless if you want to trade it in. Lastly, pellet guns are a 2 fer, it is not only fun to target shoot, but you can also use them for pest removal. I mean are you really going to use your AR 15 around the farm or in the back yard?? So if Tiger Woods would have had the hobby we have, to spend his idle time.....he would probably still be married.......this is my story and I'm sticking to it!!

had this happen to me when i bought my first pcp (aa 510 extra fac) my first downhill bike , my first motorcykle and so on .. people feel entitled to nag about spending so mutch money on a Pelletgun ...

2 years ago a friend of mine , who had been hunting deer , elk and so on for a couple years started naging on me after i bought a hw100 and a vortex scope , saying it was the dumbest thing he ever seen for that kind of money ... he on the other hand is sporting shotguns that go 3 or 4 times what the hw100 go for and his rifle of choise was a tikka with zeizz optics ,,,, way more expencive than my setup .

i simpley told him we have a shootout at 75 m with two 10 shot groups .... if he won he could talk all the smack he wanted , if he lost he`d have to shut it for the rest of the year he became very quiet that year lol

When I tell people of this hobby I tend to wait before I tell them how much I paid for my stuff. They always reel back and open their eyes and say"What, How much"?
Then I go on explaining the capabilities of it how much more use I get out of my airgun than of my PB's. Its not until they actually try one that they start to understand my addiction.

People who think you're weird have obviously never experienced the quiet joy of shooting on an airgun-only range.

hasenpfeffer: wow, never been to an A/G only range. You brining that up makes me long for a place to shoot where my un moderated Disco is the loudest gun there...that along with the lack of "jerk-bags" poking fun at the "BB gun."

Richie, Thanks for the quick response. I will respond to the email I got for club email subscription as I do have a few questions.

Hey if a .22 is worth considering check out the classifieds. TwentyCal is our club director. If he does not sell if before Saturday I'm sure you could arrange to shoot it. 20 is a great guy and frankly the reason we have our club.

A 22 is quite capable for many hunting situation, and the pellets are a fair bit cheaper. Also a 25 can be really hard on targets.
