Please help the newb buy a bullpup :)

All great advice from everyone here. I'd take a look at big tin boats Taipan. Everyone who has one speaks nothing but good about them. I'd probably stick with a 22 for the area you described. No one plans to miss, but sometimes it happens. An 18 grain pellet running 850 fps at a 24 degree angle has a range of 600 yards. Alot more than you would think. Plus, more shots per fill and cheaper ammo. Have fun with your choices and let us know what you end up with.

my first pcp is the umarex gauntlet 22 cal. shoots straight and is real quite but the power is not what i was expecting. shoots about 750fps. need to mod it abit and am looking forward to that. picked up a fx wildcat mk 2 and wish i could tell you about it but i am still waiting on the bleeping scope mounts. seems real nice though. honestly if you know for sure that you are going to get into this hobby. passion, lifestyle or what ever you want to call it then buy once cry once is very truthful saying. and ps a hand pump is not fun!!!!

Give a look at the Crickets, 4 years back you would be waiting in line to purchase. The shot count and air efficiency is close to the best guns today. People who shot them still love them, a very simple design to service and tune. Their are many videos available, getting spreads of less than 10 fps are routinely done, pellet is JSB's magizines are 30-35 bucks and no moving parts. A few of the smaller dealers stock most parts, and are some of the best people in the industry. Used guns are doing around a grand.

$399 grab the .22. Either good pump or tank both work. I would say get a tank refills range $5-10, ultimately I want to get a compressor but I live in CA tons of dive shops, kind of like finding a good dive bar (pun not intended). I have a hill pump & 2 tanks I'm not hurting for air, but rushing into high end guns and compressors is not really necessary for killing pests if you can shoot.

Army Vet here, I can shoot anything, I have a Kral, SPA P-12, and a Marauder that's been bullpup'd.

3 guns vs 1 high end gun, in the end if you can shoot, you can shoot...

New to PCPs but not new to Airguns and firearms. Also spent some time in the 82nd although am 29yrs of service USN. 1 more yr to go...
I got the wood .25 Bullboss. It was simply the one that appealed to me the most. Kinda like guitars and surfboards; you get set on a certain one and it becomes THE ONE. Had some total NEWBIE moments with it in first month that were easily resolved by asking questions here. Simply put, I had to tighten a screw.

i love it.

I’ve shot FX (incredible) and MROD (most accurate, quiet rifle I’ve ever fired). Love them both. Kral is great too. My buddy has one and it shoots awesome. No issues.

Good luck in the search. I like to start middle of the road - I don’t mind going up in price over time. I appreciate paying dues in the early stage to learn the workings of a rifle.

A lot of guys and gals on here own high end guns and won't buy a lower end gun and that's a reason why you are hearing a lot of buy the more expensive one. Yes they are higher quality with amazing accuracy. Yes the fit and finish is better. Yes the triggers are usually better. Any gun cheap or expensive is subject to possible problems eventually. The first gen kral had some issues. They have since fixed some of those. It is a little loud but you can get a quiet kit for $25 or buy a moderator for around $100. It is not regulated but has a fantastic tune and shoots like it is regulated. It has a good shot count around 50-60 good shots. It is dam accurate. At 100 yards an fx will take it down but backyard pesting it will hit it's mark every time. Mine will put 10 pellets in just over a half inch at 50. Whenever I go to the woods I will grab the kral every time. Shoot what makes you happy.

Thanks for all the relies......I really appreciate the input........glad to see lots of Army vets on here as well !

So what I've gathered is that FX wildcat is a great choice in a $1500 rifle.......unfortunately I wanted to buy a lesser priced first rifle and then maybe another high end one next year.

The rifle isnt going to be a target rifle, its going to be my backyard boomstick.....dropped, thrown in the garage, left outside, abused and such......I belong to a range and shoot guns often....with bullets, lol .......I have 11 AR's and those aren't my target or long range rifles. I enjoy shooting my HK rifles more and occasionally my .50 BMG, .50 Beowulf and .458 Hammer.
I currently have a $200 gamo springer.....loud and deadly....I'm amazed at the squirrels ive taken out hiding in a tree 50-100- 200 feet away......dime to quarter sized holes at 30-50 feet in a target.......zero maintenance in 5 years.....maybe 5000 rounds shot....it kicks so hard that the scope broke the mounts twice and i had to weld it back on.

$1500 buys a beautiful amazing pistol or a seriously nice rifle.......crazy that the same amount of money is where great pcp rifles start !

Amazon has the Hatsan Gladius long for $580 and the Hatsan Bullboss for $437......year warranty...... The Gladius was around $1000 last year .......is that really a bad choice for running out the back door and taking down a terrorist squirrel eating my damn bananas and raiding my bird feeder ?
I think I want to go with the hand pump...... for exercise....seriously !....I can always buy another air source......I'm 6'3" 225 so I don't think the hand pump is going to get the best of me and exercise is good !!.....so is good whiskey :)

sooooooooo should I or should I not buy the Gladius and why please ?

Thanks again !!

If you're just shooting around the yard then the extra weight really will not matter. The bullboss is lighter, but the Gladius is the better gun, especially getting one for that price.
Though you could get the bullboss and spend more for a better handpump. I have had a cheap Benjamin pump where I would struggle dripping sweat to pump. Then I bought a Hill pump, and the difference is day and night, I can fill without coming close to breaking a sweat.
