Has anyone ever used an external pipe threader or threading tool to adapt a barrel end that is not threaded to fit a compensator or muzzle brake that is threaded?

No, when a die starts no mater how careful you are, it will not start straight. You will get an off set, which will cause pellet strikes in the LDC/madarator. These type threading jobs need to be single pointed threads on a lathe. Both enternal and external has to be done this way to get strike free alingnment. Even a blind squirrel find an acorn once in a while, go for it, give it a try and let use know how it goes.

Ditto to what has been said above. Plus the threading needs to be concentric with the internal bore of the barrel, not the exterior. These are not necessarily the same.
